Sootopolis City

Explore Sootopolis City in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire! Get HM07 Waterfall, find TMs, items, and conquer Juan's ice puzzles to earn the Rain Badge.

After Rayquaza intervenes and restores balance, talk to Wallace to receive HM07: Waterfall. This HM can be used outside of battle to climb waterfalls, but requires the next gym badge. Archie and Maxie depart for Mt. Pyre to return the orbs; you can visit them there to witness the event and speak with an old man about legendary Pokémon.

Sootopolis City is now fully accessible. The Cave of Origin is blocked for the remainder of the game. Begin at the Pokémon Center, located by surfing right of the gym and hopping onto the ledge. A person here can teach Double-Edge, a powerful Normal-type move with recoil damage. It's best taught to Pokémon with the Rock Head ability, like Golem.

The Pokemart is found by heading left of the gym, up the steps. From the Pokemart, go down the steps and head north up four sets of steps. Enter the house on the left to receive TM31: Brick Break, a solid Fighting-type move.

Return to the gym and surf left again. A woman will give you two rare berries daily. Near the Pokémon Center, head north and enter a house. Two boys are discussing Lotad and Seedot. If you show them either Pokémon larger than 15.7 inches, you may receive an Elixir. East of this house, a person will give you a Wailmer Doll.

Sootopolis City Gym: Battle Juan

The gym puzzle involves stepping on ice tiles in a specific order to reach Juan. Falling resets the puzzle and sends you to battle trainers on lower floors. There are three increasingly difficult ice puzzles.
