Follow this guide to get Star 1, Snowman's Big Head, in Super Mario 64's Snowman's Land. Learn how to navigate icy platforms and avoid the snowman's breath.
Walkthrough
- 1As soon as you start the level, turn around to face a large snow wall.
- 2Follow the wall to the left, past a snowman, until you reach a tree.
- 3Continue left past another tree (near a red coin) and go under it. You will be transported to a different part of the level with another tree.
- 4Move forward to an area with water. Falling into this water will cause you to lose health due to the freezing atmosphere.
- 5Jump over the water onto the next snow platform, which has a spinning flower enemy. You can choose to ignore or defeat this enemy.
- 6You will notice 'waves' of flowing snow. Navigate against this flow, like a salmon swimming upstream, to reach its source.
- 7At the source of the flowing snow, perform a double jump to reach the platform above.
- 8Follow the trail up the mountain. Go past a narrow wooden ledge with two coins.
- 9Jump to the next platform above, which has a tree on it.
- 10Continue upwards using the wooden platform.
- 11When the wooden platform ends, you will reach an ice platform with a giant penguin.
- 12As you step onto the ice platform, the giant snowman head will try to blow you off. If you are blown off, you will lose your hat, making you take damage twice as easily. If you lose your hat, you must find and pick it up again.
- 13To cross the ice platform safely, use the giant penguin. Wait for the penguin to approach you.
- 14Stand on the left side of the penguin. The penguin will slowly walk to the other side of the ice platform.
- 15Stay on the penguin's left side as he walks to avoid being blown off by the snowman's breath.
- 16Once you reach the other side, use the wooden platform to get to the top of the snowman's head.
- 17The star is on top of the snowman's head. Cross a narrow ledge carefully to reach it.
Tips
- If you lose your hat, look for it and pick it up to avoid taking double damage.
- The giant penguin is unaffected by the snowman's breath and can shield you.
- Be very careful when crossing the narrow ledge to get the star on top of the snowman's head.
