To access this secret course, you must first have 50 stars. Once you have 50 stars, go into the 3rd story of the castle and stand directly in front of the grandfather clock. Look to the left to see a small alcove in the wall. To enter, double jump onto the brick platform on the right side of the alcove, then jump into the alcove. Inside, jump into the small hole.
You will be transported to a new area high in the sky, on top of a cloud. In this new area, you will need to use the provided wing caps to fly around and find 8 red coins. Once you collect all 8 red coins, the star of power will appear on top of the cloud where you started. It is recommended to collect the red coins in the order listed below.
- 1Coin 1: On top of the first cloud you start on. Get this immediately.
- 2Coin 2: Look for the cloud with 3 rainbows connecting to it. The red coin is on top of this cloud.
- 3Coin 3: Locate the lowest platform in the stage, which has a pink Bob-omb and a climbable pole. Climb the pole for an extra life, then drop off to grab Red Coin #3.
- 4Coin 4: Talk to the pink Bob-omb to open the cannon. Hit the red '!' switch to get a Wing Cap, then jump into the cannon. Aim it as far right as possible to a small cloud with two rainbows connecting to it. Shoot yourself onto this cloud to get the red coin.
- 5Coin 5: Triple jump to fly. Go down to the lowest platform with the pink Bob-omb. Hit the red '!' switch for a Wing Cap. Jump back into the cannon. Aim for a platform shaped like an upside-down cone with a reddish top. Land on it and fall into the cannon on top. Aim towards the front-left to find a small grey cloud containing the red coin. Shoot towards it and fly through the cloud to collect the coin. If you miss, return to the cannon.
- 6Coin 6: From the previous cannon, aim at the upside-down cone-shaped platform with the other cannon. Aim high to land on top. Drop into the cannon and aim all the way to the upper-left. You will see poles hanging from a cloud with a red coin at the bottom of one. Shoot towards the poles, grab on, and if you didn't land on the middle pole, jump to it. Slide down the middle pole to get the coin and land on a cloud below.
- 7Coin 7: On the cloud below the poles, hit the red '!' box for a Wing Cap. Fly to the cannon on the upside-down cone platform. Jump in and aim upper-left towards the cloud platform with poles. Ignore the poles and land on top of the cloud platform. Red Coin #7 is on top.
- 8Coin 8: This coin is located on the other side of the cloud platform from Red Coin #7.
After collecting all 8 red coins, the Star of Power will appear on the starting cloud.
