Guide to Part 7 of Deus Ex: Free Gunther, disable security systems, and reach the NSF commander's post. Includes item locations and strategies.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Near the start, find a MEDKIT and a PS20 pistol.
  2. 2
Use a Multitool to disable the control panel for the lasers blocking Gunther's cell.
  3. 3
Locate and enter the ventilation shafts. Use your Light Augmentation to navigate.
  4. 4
Follow the vents until you find a MULTITOOL.
  5. 5
A locked door requires a Lockpick; continue past it for now.
  6. 6
In an office, find a MEDKIT, another PS20, and a DataCube with ATM login info.
  7. 7
Track back to the main hall. Wait near the lasers for NSF guards to approach.
  8. 8
Use a Tranq. Dart on one guard, then hide in the vent shaft to avoid detection as he sounds the alarm.
  9. 9
Crawl to the nearby room with the locked door and shoot from there if possible.
  10. 10
Eliminate all three NSF guards using a shoot-and-hide strategy.
  11. 11
    Use the ATM info (Account# 230023, PIN# 4558) to withdraw 200 credits.
  12. 12
Pass the lasers. Turn right (East), then left (North). Find a LAM and TECH GOGGLES on crates.
  13. 13
Ignore the door that connects to the vent system you used earlier.
  14. 14
Proceed to the room next to Gunther's cell. A camera is present.
  15. 15
You can bypass the camera with a Multitool, but it's not necessary. Stand near the Terminal to avoid the turret it activates.
  16. 16
Use the Security Terminal (NSF001/SMASHTHESTATE) to disable cameras and turrets, and unlock the door to Gunther.
  17. 17
Before approaching Gunther, decide if you want to give him your Pistol. Giving it to him improves his attitude; refusing negatively impacts it. If you don't have a Pistol, JC offers his Combat Knife or nothing.
  18. 18
On the table near Gunther, find a BATON and an ACCURACY WEAPON MODIFICATION.
  19. 19
Free Gunther to earn 150 SP and the objective 'Free Gunther'.
  20. 20
If you opened Gunther's door via the Terminal but didn't set it to 'Unlocked', a brick left of the door can be pushed to open it.
  21. 21
You can follow Gunther outside; he is invulnerable and will engage NSF enemies. You can pick up dropped Pistols.
  22. 22
Return to the main hall with the torch. If the alarm was triggered, wait for it to end before ascending.
  23. 23
Ascend the stairs. You may encounter two NSF members; sneak past or eliminate them. Mercenary Thugs may have TRANQUILIZER DARTS.
  24. 24
Continue ascending. Alex will discuss Gunther and the plague vaccine, Ambrosia.
  25. 25
Climbing stairs to the command post earns 150 SP PROGRESS BONUS.
  26. 26
Be alert for two final terrorists before the NSF commander. You can listen to their conversation, which varies based on whether Gunther was rescued.
  27. 27
Sneak past them or use a Dart on the East wall to distract them.
  28. 28
Enter the command post of the Statue of Liberty to earn 750 SP CRITICAL LOCATION BONUS.
  29. 29
Talk to Colonel Leo Gold, the NSF commander. Avoid threatening him. He has three dialogue scenes.
Tips
  • The PS20 pistol has splash damage, so be cautious around explosive crates.
  • The ATM PIN 4558 is a reference to the Illuminati (4558 = ILLU on a phone keypad).
  • President Mead's name may reference Syd Mead, a visual futurist influential in Deus Ex's design.
  • If you don't unlock Gunther's door via the Terminal, a pushable brick will open it.
  • If you follow Gunther outside, you can retrieve dropped Pistols.
  • Be quiet when ascending the stairs to sneak past NSF members.
  • Listen to the conversation between the final two terrorists for context.
  • 150 SP (Free Gunther)
  • 150 SP PROGRESS BONUS (Climb stairs to command post)
  • 750 SP CRITICAL LOCATION BONUS (Enter command post of Statue of Liberty)
