Learn Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes Hyper Canceling and Delayed Hyper Combos. Cancel special moves into Hyper Combos.
Walkthrough
- 1Hyper Canceling: Input a Hyper Combo (HC) command during a special move to cancel it into the HC. This can be done even if the special move hasn't hit, but must be done early in the special move's animation. You cannot hyper cancel out of a special move if it does not hit. This is similar to 'super canceling' in the SF3 series.
- 2Delayed Hyper Combos (DHCs): During a Hyper Combo, input the command for your first partner's HC to have them appear and perform it. While your partner's HC is active, input a command for your third character's HC, and they will appear and perform theirs.
- 3DHC Damage Scaling: Any Hyper Combo used in a DHC does 25% less damage than usual. For example, Dan's Otoko Michi goes from 100 points of damage down to 75% when used in a DHC.
- 4DHC Grab Supers: For 'grab type' supers, your opponent may fly into the air after your ally appears, potentially making comboing your HC harder.
- 5DHC Order Restriction: You must go in order (2nd partner to 3rd partner) for DHCs. Some Hyper Combos cannot be canceled into or out of. These include: Colossus's Super Armor, MvC Wolverine's Berserker Charge, Sakura Kasugano's Hiyakeshita Sakura, Shuma-Gorath's Chaos Dimension, and Zangief's Iron Body.
- 6Character Order Change After DHC: After a DHC, the character order changes. If your lineup is Leader, Partner A, Partner B, after a 2-person DHC, the order becomes Partner A (Leader), Partner B (Partner A), Leader (Partner B). After a 3-person DHC, the order becomes Partner B (Leader), Leader (Partner A), Partner A (Partner B). This change is important for subsequent DHC attempts.
- 7HC to HC Canceling: It is impossible to cancel directly from one Hyper Combo to another. You can link HCs by waiting for the screen to return to normal before performing another one, such as juggling with two of Dan's Shinkuu Gadou Kens.
- 8Chain Combos: Attack with a series of normal punches and kicks, canceling one attack into the next. Chain combos can be performed while crouching, allowing cancellation into standing or crouching attacks mid-chain.
- 9MvC2 Button Setup: Pressing LP or LK twice during the animation of a light attack results in a medium attack (MP or MK). This means you cannot perform a MP or MK attack unless you have performed a LP or LK attack first.
Tips
- Hyper canceling allows for extended combos and increased damage output by canceling special moves into powerful Hyper Combos.
- Delayed Hyper Combos can lead to massive damage, especially when chaining together multiple powerful Hyper Combos from different characters.
- Be mindful of the character order changes after DHCs to ensure you can execute subsequent DHCs correctly.
- Experiment with different character combinations and DHC timings to discover optimal damage routes.
- Understand the button setup for chain combos to effectively link light attacks into medium attacks for more damaging chains.
