3-star Key Quests

Stomping Grounds
Objective: Hunt a Yian Kut-Ku.
Location: Jurassic Frontier.
Subquest: Deliver 2 Ancient Berries.
Notes: Yian Kut-Ku is a flying monster found in area 5. Bring Paintballs as it flies between areas. It spits fireballs; bring armor with fire resistance or use Nulberries to cure Fireblight. Completing this and “Crustacean Frustration” unlocks “Tumultuous Sprouts”.

Crustacean Frustration
Objective: Hunt a Daimyo Hermitaur.
Location: Dunes.
Subquest: Slay 8 Hermitaurs.
Notes: Daimyo Hermitaur is a Carapaceon that wields water. Bring Cool Drinks and Nulberries for Waterblight. It is found in area 3. Its shell is hard, so aim for its soft body.

Tumultuous Sprouts
Objective: Deliver 8 Abyssal Mushrooms.
Location: Jurassic Frontier.
Subquest: None.
Notes: You start in area 11. Avoid the powerful guest monster (Glavenus) initially. You can capture or kill it with skill or better gear. Future runs may feature Tetsucabra or Great Maccao. Completing this unlocks the remaining key quests.

The Desert Gourmand
Objective: Hunt a Nibelsnarf.
Location: Dunes.
Subquest: Wound Nibelsnarf’s front legs.
Notes: Find Nibelsnarf in area 7. Place barrel bombs in its path for it to eat and explode. Use the A button to fish it out of the sand and rotate the left circle pad quickly for damage and to fulfill the subquest. Use a paintball as it can use sand to move between areas.

Current Events
Objective: Hunt a Royal Ludroth.
Location: Deserted Island.
Subquest: Slay 8 Ludroth.
Notes: Unlocked by completing “Tumultuous Sprouts”. Royal Ludroth is in area 10. The subquest will likely be completed naturally as Royal Ludroth constantly spawns smaller Ludroth, which can cause Waterblight.

Robbed Blind
Objective: Hunt a Gypceros.
Location: Marshlands.
Subquest: Wound Gypceros’s crest.
Notes: Unlocked by completing “Tumultuous Sprouts”. Gypceros is in area 8. It can stun you with a flash from its crest or poison you. Evade the flash with a shield, Absolute Evasion, Bushido evade, or panic dive. Use a paintball as Gypceros can fly away.

URGENT: The Nocturnal Enchanter
Objective: Hunt a Malfestio.
Location: Jurassic Frontier.
Subquest: Wound the Malfestio’s head.
Notes: Malfestio is a new Bird Wyvern found in area 4. It can put you to sleep and reverse your movement controls (indicated by a green question mark). Run towards Malfestio to escape the reversed controls. When tired, it sleeps on a tree branch, accessible only by Gunners.
