While not as aggressive as some of the more dangerous monsters, it can still pose a threat if you're not careful. This guide will help you understand its behaviors and how to best prepare for a hunt.

Rhenoplos Overview

Rhenoplos are known for their tough, rocky hides and their tendency to charge headfirst into danger. They are herbivores, meaning they primarily feed on vegetation, but they can be territorial and will defend themselves vigorously if provoked. Their primary attack involves a powerful charge, often preceded by a distinctive bellow. They can also swing their heads and tails, so keeping a safe distance or knowing when to dodge is key.

Behavior and Combat Tips

When you first encounter a Rhenoplos, you'll notice it often grazes peacefully. However, once it spots you or is attacked, it will likely enter an enraged state. In this state, its charges become faster and more frequent. It's crucial to watch its tells: a slight pause or a head-shake often precedes a charge. Dodging to the side at the last moment is your best bet.

Weaknesses

The Rhenoplos is most vulnerable to the Ice element. Its head is also a weak point for bladed weapons, but be cautious as it can easily retaliate with its charges. Blunt weapons can be effective against its legs, potentially staggering it.

Preparation for the Hunt

Before heading out to hunt a Rhenoplos, consider bringing items that can help you manage its charges, such as Speed Sharpening or Earplugs if you're using bladed weapons. Armor with good defense, especially against the elements it might use if it has any secondary attacks (though it's primarily physical), is also recommended. Always bring enough healing items and perhaps some Nullberries if you anticipate any status effects, though Rhenoplos are not known for inflicting many.

Defeating or capturing a Rhenoplos can yield valuable materials such as Rhenoplos Scales, Rhenoplos Shells, and sometimes Rhenoplos Horns. These materials are often used in crafting sturdy armor and weapons, making the Rhenoplos a worthwhile hunt for any hunter looking to upgrade their gear.
