Alright, welcome to High Rank in Monster Hunter Generations! This is where things really start to heat up, especially if you're playing online. You'll notice that Deviant Quests, once you get them to a certain level, will actually jump into High Rank territory and require you to have reached this rank first. So, if you've been breezing through the lower ranks, get ready for a serious step-up!

High Rank monsters aren't just tougher; they hit way harder and can even pull out some new tricks and attacks you haven't seen before. The real kicker? The materials they drop are way better. Think Scales+ instead of just Scales. This means you can craft some seriously upgraded armor. High Rank armor boasts a much higher defense rating, and you'll spot it because it'll have an “S” tacked onto the end of its name. Plus, this is where you'll start encountering Hyper Monsters. If you check the Bestiary, you can get the lowdown on them, and taking them down unlocks the awesome “R” series of armor, made from those super-powered Hyper Monster parts. These new materials aren't just for armor, either – they'll let you upgrade your weapons to new heights. You'll also be able to gather exclusive High Rank-only materials, like the valuable Carbalite Ore.
