How to Defeat Electric Gym Leader Iono (Rematch)

You can rematch Iono in pokemon scarlet and violet after completing the Area Zero story and visiting the Director’s Office at Naranja/Uva Academy. Geeta will ask you to visit the eight gyms of Paldea as part of an inspection, allowing you to challenge the gym leaders at their full power.

Recommended Pokémon for Iono During Her Rematch:

Iono’s Pokémon are all Level 65-66, so your Pokémon should be Level 65+ to match. Ground types are recommended due to Iono’s reliance on Electric-type Pokémon.

• Level 75 Tera Dragonite (eastern edge of Paldea): Can learn Earthquake via TM from Cascarrafa.
• Level 75 Tera Lucario (Dalizapa Passage, underground): A good all-rounder that can learn Earthquake.
• Ting-Lu: A Ground-type Legendary found in a sealed shrine.
• Baxcalibur: A Dragon/Ice type evolved from Arctibax (Glaseado Mountain). It resists most of Iono’s Pokémon.
• Haxorus: A Dragon type evolved from Fraxure (North Province, Area One), especially one with the Mold Breaker ability.

Iono's Rematch Team:

• Kilowattrel (Level 65, Electric/Flying): Uses Discharge, Hurricane, Quick Attack, and Tailwind. Its Wind Power ability boosts Electric moves when hit by wind. Rock types are recommended due to resistance to Hurricane. Ice types are also good. Ground types can be used if they have other moves to counter Discharge.
• Bellibolt (Level 65, Electric): Uses Thunder, Water Pulse, Reflect, and Sucker Punch. Ground types are super-effective, but beware of Water Pulse. Grass or Dragon types can resist Thunder and Water Pulse.
• Electrode (Level 65, Electric): Uses Discharge, Electric Terrain, Magnet Rise, and Foul Play. Ground types are super-effective, but Electrode can use Magnet Rise to gain immunity to Ground moves. If this happens, Grass or Dragon types can be used.
• Luxray (Level 65, Electric): Uses Wild Charge, Ice Fang, Crunch, and Psychic Fangs. Its Intimidate ability lowers your Attack. Ground types are super-effective, but be cautious of Ice Fang. In Pokemon Violet, Iron Treads takes neutral damage from Ice Fang. Baxcalibur resists Wild Charge and takes neutral damage from Ice Fang, and can learn Earthquake.
• Mismagius (Level 66, Ghost, Tera Type: Electric): Uses Charge Beam, Shadow Ball, Mystical Fire, and Dazzling Gleam. Its Levitate ability grants immunity to Ground moves. Haxorus with Mold Breaker can learn Earthquake to bypass Levitate. Koraidon or Miraidon can also be used to brute force the battle.
