To start a Tera Raid Battle, explore the Paldea region and look for shining Tera Raid crystals. These crystals emit a bright pillar of light, making them easy to spot. Interacting with these crystals will allow you to enter a Tera Raid Battle, similar to raid dens in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

A window will appear showing the silhouette of the Tera Pokémon and its star rating, indicating its difficulty. You can only bring one Pokémon with you, chosen from your party or Pokémon Boxes. You can then choose to challenge the raid alone or with other players, either locally or online. You can also join a friend's raid by using a Link Code or search for other players' raids through the Tera Raid Battle menu.

How do Tera Battles Work?

Once a Tera Battle begins, you have three action options: Battle (select a move), Cheer (boost stats or heal), or Run (give up). Unlike Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword & Shield, your chosen action is performed immediately without waiting for other trainers. The objective is to deplete the Tera Pokémon's HP before the time limit expires and without your entire team's Pokémon fainting.

If you successfully defeat the Tera Pokémon, you will have the chance to catch it. These Pokémon often have rare Tera Types, making them valuable to acquire. Winning battles also rewards you with items.

Tera Raid Battle Events

Occasionally, special Tera Raid Battle Events will occur. These are indicated by Tera Raid Crystals with a mysterious aura and will sparkle on the map. These events often feature rare Pokémon or Pokémon with a higher chance of specific Tera Types. For example, an event from November 24th to 27th, 2022, allowed players to encounter Eevee with various Tera Types.
