Need help beating Grusha in his post-game rematch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? We've got the full breakdown of his team, weaknesses, and the best Pokémon to bring.

Alright, so you've beaten the main story, seen the credits roll, and now Director Clavell wants you to go back and challenge the Gym Leaders again. Grusha's up for a rematch, and this time he's bringing his A-game! You'll need to be around Level 65 or higher to stand a good chance.

Recommended Pokémon for Grusha's Rematch:

  • Tera Lucario (Fighting/Steel): Found in Dalizapa Passage, it's a powerhouse against Grusha.
  • Koraidon (Scarlet exclusive): If you're playing Scarlet, your legendary is a solid choice.
  • Chi-Yu (Dark/Fire): This Legendary is found in a sealed shrine and packs a fiery punch.
  • Tinkaton (Fairy/Steel): Catch a Tinkatuff in North Province Area One and evolve it. Its Gigaton Hammer is brutal.
  • Iron Valiant (Fighting/Fairy - Violet exclusive): Found in caves in upper Area Zero, this Paradox Pokémon is great for Violet players.
  • Garganacl (Rock): A common find in the lower parts of Area Zero.
  • Volcarona (Bug/Fire): You can find this fiery moth in Area Zero.

Grusha's Rematch Team:

Frosmoth65Ice / Bug
Beartic65Ice
Cetitan65Ice
Weavile65Dark / Ice
Altaria66Dragon / Flying (Tera Type: Ice)

Frosmoth

Grusha kicks things off with Frosmoth, just like before. Its moveset hasn't changed: Blizzard and Bug Buzz for damage, and Tailwind to speed up its team. Rock-types are your absolute best bet here, dealing quadruple damage! Fire and Steel types are also solid choices.

Beartic

The polar bear is back! Beartic's moveset is also the same. It's got Icicle Crash for STAB, Earthquake to mess with Fire, Rock, and Steel types, and Aqua Jet for that surprise hit. Fighting-types are still your go-to for dealing with this one.

Cetitan

Cetitan returns for another round. It's still packing Ice Spinner for STAB and to clear terrain, Ice Shard to try and go first, and Liquidation to hit Fire and Rock types hard. It can also use Bounce to avoid Fighting-type attacks. A strong Steel-type Pokémon will really put a dent in Cetitan.

Weavile

Weavile is a new addition to Grusha's rematch team. It's got Night Slash and Ice Punch for STAB, plus Shadow Claw and X-Scissor for coverage. Again, Fighting-types are its weakness, but Fire, Rock, and Steel types will also perform well against it.

Terastallized Altaria

To finish the fight, Grusha Terastallizes his Altaria into a pure Ice type, though it still has Dragon and Flying STAB. Its moves include Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, Hurricane, and Moonblast (which can surprise Fighting types). Stick with a reliable Fire, Rock, or Steel type to take down this final Pokémon.
