Gyarados is a popular Water and Flying type Pokémon that evolves from Magikarp at level 20. Its primary weaknesses are Rock and Electric types. When using its standard typing, Gyarados is strong against Bug, Fighting, Fire, Ground, Steel, and Water types. In the Gyarados Tera Raid event, its Tera-Typing is random, meaning it can resist attacks even while hiding behind a new Tera-Type, unless that Tera-Type is Water or Flying. The best strategy is to prepare a diverse team to handle various Tera Typings. Gyarados will use Dragon, Dark, Flying, and Water attacks, so Pokémon with resistances to these types are recommended. An Azumaril Tera Raid Build is effective, being weak only to Electric, Grass, and Poison types. It uses Belly Drum to maximize its Attack stat, then deals damage with Play Rough or Superpower. Be aware that Cinderace may use Bulk Up to increase its Attack stat, so a fast and powerful offense is key.
