Ambrette Town
Discover Pokémon found via Rock Smash, Surfing, and Fishing in Ambrette Town. Get TM94, TM96, Rocky Helmet, and learn about the fossil lab and O-Powers.
Ambrette Town is a key location in Pokémon X and Y, offering various activities and items. The aquarium serves as a gateway to the lower half of Route 8.
Upon arriving, your rival will guide you on what to do in town. After their advice, visit the Pokémon Center to heal your team and restock on items. Near the Pokémon Center, a person will give you TM94 - Rock Smash. Head into the nearby aquarium and descend to the lower level. A fisherman there will offer you an Old Rod, enabling you to fish for Pokémon.
The exit near the fisherman leads to Route 8, but you can explore it later. Return to town and head south. You'll find a person who offers a daily trade of a Poké Ball for a special ball. West of this person is a house with another daily event: a woman who rewards players for showing her Pokémon with specific stats.
Proceed south again and enter the hotel. On the bottom floor, on the east side, a girl will give you TM96 - Nature Power. Use the stairs on the west side to go upstairs. In the eastern room on the second floor, you'll find the O-Powers guy, who will give you a Sp. Def Power before leaving.
Exit the hotel and head north, then east. Enter the building you pass; this is the fossil lab. A Hiker inside will react if you show him a legendary Genesect. Your rival will join you in the eastern part of the lab. After speaking with the scientists, exit and head east into the gate. Speak with a girl wandering around to receive a Rocky Helmet.

Anistar City
Anistar City walkthrough for Pokémon X and Y! Face off against your rival, find an Escape Rope using the Dowsing Machine, and prepare to enter the Pokémon Gym.
Alright, you've made it to Anistar City! Before we dive into the Gym, there's a little something we need to take care of: a battle with your rival, Serena or Calem. They've caught a new Pokémon, an Eevee, and its type will depend on which starter you picked way back at the beginning. This is a pretty standard rival battle, so just use your strongest Pokémon and you should be fine.
Here's a look at their party, depending on your starter:
- If you chose Chespin: Meowstic (Level 44, Psychic), Absol (Level 44, Dark), Jolteon (Level 44, Electric), and Delphox (Level 46, Fire/Psychic).
- If you chose Fennekin: Meowstic (Level 44, Psychic), Absol (Level 44, Dark), Flareon (Level 44, Fire), and Greninja (Level 46, Water/Dark).
- If you chose Froakie: Meowstic (Level 44, Psychic), Absol (Level 44, Dark), Vaporeon (Level 44, Water), and Chesnaught (Level 46, Grass/Fighting).
Don't worry too much about this battle; after you defeat them, your rival will kindly heal up your entire party. How thoughtful!
Now, it's time for a little treasure hunt. Turn on your Dowsing Machine and head east through the city. Keep your eyes peeled, especially near the lookout point. You should be able to find an Escape Rope there. Grab it – it's always good to have one handy!
With that done, we're all set to head into the Anistar City Pokémon Gym. Let's go!
Anistar City Gym
Navigate the Anistar City Gym maze, defeat Psychic-type trainers, and challenge Gym Leader Olympia to earn the Psychic Badge and TM04 Calm Mind in Pokémon X and Y.
This gym is a maze, but you’ll never get lost if you follow our directions. It’s a Psychic-type gym! If you have Dark-type Pokemon, you’re sorted. Begin by heading into the centre of the room and it will disappear! Now it’s a maze to reach the Gym Leader. Take the north path and follow it until the first Psychic takes you on.
Gym Member Battle: Psychic Paschal
- Pokémon: Exeggutor | Level: 46 | Type: Grass/Psychic
Follow the path around to the yellow square. Step on it and you’ll teleport down to the level below. Head east to the next yellow square. Step on it and you’ll teleport back up to the level above once more. Head south and teleport back down again. Continue south, teleport again then head south one more time and you’ll be stopped by another Psychic. You can avoid this one by going around him if you wish to. If not, take him on!
Gym Member Battle: Psychic Harry
- Pokémon: Medicham | Level: 46 | Type: Fighting/Psychic
Once he’s beaten, continue south. You’ll now be able to either head east or west. Head east as west is a dead end. Teleport at the end then head north and teleport again. You’re now at the purple level. You can avoid the next trainer by taking the eastern of the two paths taking you north, but if not then take him down!
Gym Member Battle: Psychic Arthur
- Pokémon: Reuniclus | Level: 46 | Type: Psychic
Head west, then south, down to the next square. Stand on it to teleport. Now if you head north you can do an optional battle against a Hex Maniac. Do so if you need the practice or experience!
Gym Member Battle: Hex Maniac Arachna
- Pokémon: Jynx | Level: 46 | Type: Ice/Psychic
Now head back to the square and take the path leading west. There’s another trainer here who you can once again avoid if you take the path behind her. If not then take her on!
Gym Member Battle: Hex Maniac Melanie
- Pokémon: Gardevoir | Level: 46 | Type: Psychic/Fairy
Head west over to the yellow square. Teleport down to the floor below and head north to the Gym Leader. You can backtrack out of the gym and heal yourself first if you want. It’s a lengthy journey but it might be worth it. Once you’re ready, talk with her and the battle will start!
Gym Leader Battle! Leader Olympia
- Pokémon: Sigilyph | Level: 44 | Type: Psychic/Flying
- Pokémon: Slowking | Level: 45 | Type: Water/Psychic
- Pokémon: Meowstic | Level: 48 | Type: Psychic
For Sigilyph, keep your Bug-types at bay for now, since it’s part Flying and strong against Bugs. Slowking and Meowstic are simple enough to trounce; for Slowking you can punish him with your powerful Grass or Electric-type Pokemon too.
Once you beat Olympia she’ll give you the Psychic Badge. This means that any Pokémon up to Level 90 that you received in a trade will obey. You’ll also receive TM04 - Calm Mind. After that she’ll ask if you want to be warped back to the entrance. Answer “yes” and you’ll appear back in the original room. Head on outside.
Azure Bay
Complete the Azure Bay section of pokemon xy, including trainer battles and finding the Ampharosite. Learn Pokemon locations and more.

Trainer Battle: Swimmer M Kieran
- Pokémon: Remoraid (Level 27, Water), Skrelp (Level 27, Poison/Water), Wailmer (Level 27, Water)
Once he’s beaten, head west to Swimmer F Romy.
Trainer Battle: Swimmer F Romy
- Pokémon: Slowpoke (Level 30, Water/Psychic)
Head north from there, over to the small island. Speak with the man there that’s not the fisherman to receive an Ampharosite. This allows you to evolve Ampharos into Mega Ampharos. Speak with the Fisherman here for a fight.
Trainer Battle: Fisherman Ewan
- Pokémon: Clauncher (Level 27, Water/Psychic), Carvanha (Level 29, Water/Dark)
To the east of the Fisherman is a Photo Spot. Now head back into the water and move north-west from the island. You’ll bump into the final trainer of the area here.
Trainer Battle: Swimmer F Isla
- Pokémon: Corsola (Level 28, Water/Rock), Lanturn (Level 28, Water/Electric)
You’ll eventually find a Legendary bird Pokemon here, after beating the Elite Four.
Head north from her and you’ll reach an item with tall grass on it. That and a Big Pearl. Snatch it up then head north, north-west and you’ll reach Sea Spirit’s Den. Head around behind it to find a Splash Plate.
You can head inside Sea Spirit’s Den; but there’s not going to be any use for it until well after you beat the Elite Four. That’s all there is to do here; so feel free to Surf your way back to the beach that you came from on Route 12 - Fourrage Road. When you do, head east from it into Courmarine City!
