Route 1

Embark on your Pokémon X and Y adventure! Choose your starter, battle your rival, and get your first Pokedex and items on Route 1 and Aquacorde Town.

Alright, welcome to the world of Pokémon X and Y! You're about to start your grand adventure, and it all kicks off right here in Aquacorde Town. As soon as you step in, someone will call you over to a table where you'll meet your new friends and get your very own nickname. Go ahead and pick one that you like!

After that, it's time for a super important choice: your starter Pokémon! You'll get to pick between a Grass-type, a Fire-type, or a Water-type. Don't stress too much, you can't really go wrong with any of them, but here's a quick look at your options:

Once you've made your choice and maybe given your new partner a nickname, your rival and Shauna will grab the other two starters. Then, you'll get your very own Pokédex – this is your key to learning all about the Pokémon you'll meet! You'll also receive Prof's Letter, which you need to deliver to your mom back in Vaniville Town. Seems like you need her permission before you can go exploring the whole region!

As you head south to leave town, Shauna will stop you for your very first Pokémon battle. Don't worry, it's a friendly one to get you warmed up!

Trainer Battle: Pokemon Trainer Shauna

This battle is pretty straightforward. Just use your strongest move against Shauna's Pokémon. Since your starter will have a type advantage, pick a move that matches your Pokémon's type, and they'll be defeated in no time. After the battle, Shauna will kindly heal up your Pokémon for you – enjoy it while it lasts, because you'll be doing that yourself from now on!

Now, head back to your house in Vaniville Town and talk to your mom. She'll give you a Town Map, which is super handy for navigating the region, and then practically push you out the door to start your journey. After a sweet goodbye from your mom's Rhyhorn, it's time to head back to Aquacorde Town.

Once you're back in Aquacorde Town, head north and down the stairs. You'll find a friendly person wandering around who will give you a free Potion – nice! In this area, you'll see the Pokémon Center on your right, along with the Potion Pokémart. To your left is the Poké Ball Pokémart. Here's what you can buy:

You can visit the Pokémon Center if you like, but your Pokémon should be in good shape. Don't feel pressured to buy Poké Balls right now; you'll get plenty for free soon. When you're ready, head north over the bridge. A hiker will briefly stop you to explain that Pokémon live in the tall grass and that your Pokémon will protect you. After that, you're officially on your way to Route 2!
