Alright, trainer! It's time to start your Pokémon adventure in earnest. Head north from your starting town and dive into the tall grass on Route 2. This is where you'll likely have your very first wild Pokémon battle, so get ready to catch some new friends!

As you move past the initial patch of grass, you'll meet up with Shauna and your rival. They'll give you a quick tutorial on how to catch Pokémon. Once that's done, your rival will gift you ten Poké Balls – super helpful!

Feel free to explore the area and catch any Pokémon that catch your eye. If you didn't choose Fennekin as your starter, now's a great time to snag a Flying-type like Fletchling or Pidgey. Having one of them will make the upcoming first Gym battle much easier. If your Pokémon get a little banged up, don't worry – just head back to town and heal them up at the Pokémon Center.

When you're all set, keep heading north until you see the entrance to Santalune Forest. There's a person standing right in front of it. Be careful, though! If you walk in front of him, he'll challenge you to a Pokémon battle. Steel yourself, then walk up to him to start the fight!
