Route 3

Your friendly guide to Route 3 in Pokémon X and Y! Discover Pokémon, battle trainers, and find items on your journey to the first gym.

Alright, we're heading into Route 3! It's a bit of a transition area, but don't let that fool you – there are still some trainers and wild Pokémon to encounter. Your rival, Calem or Serena, will catch up with you here and give you the Adventure Rules. Give it a quick look, it might be helpful!

After the chat, it's time to head north. Get ready for some battles! The first one is against a Preschooler named Oliver. These early trainer fights are usually pretty straightforward, but always be careful and make sure your Pokémon are healthy.

Trainer Battle: Preschooler Oliver

Don't get too comfortable, because right after Oliver, you'll face another Preschooler, Ella. She's got a Pichu, so be ready for some Electric-type moves!

After Ella, keep heading north. You might notice a bush that you can't interact with yet. You'll need HM01 Cut later on to get the item hidden behind it, so make a mental note of that spot for later. For now, head south and you'll find another trainer. If your Pokémon need healing, the next city is just ahead, so you can pop in there first if you're low on health.

Trainer Battle: Schoolgirl Bridget

Once you're done with Bridget, head south-west towards some ledges. Remember, jumping down a ledge means you can't go back up the same way, so it's a one-way trip! There's an item down there – it's a Super Potion. Grab it, then head west and north. This path will loop you back around. As you make your way back, you'll run into another trainer.

After Brighton, just keep heading north. You're almost at the next city! You've made it through Route 3!
