Discover hidden items and secrets in Resident Evil Outbreak's optional rooms. Learn about painting switches, zombie locations, and valuable loot across difficulties.

Alright, let's dive into some of the optional rooms that can really help you out in Resident Evil Outbreak. These aren't always marked on your map, but they're definitely worth checking out for extra supplies and puzzle pieces.

We're going to cover three rooms in particular: Room 102, Room 103, and Room 104. Each has something unique to offer, from puzzle elements to much-needed ammo and herbs.

ROOM 102

This is your first stop for the painting puzzle. You'll find the initial painting switch here. Keep an eye out, because in VERY HARD mode, a zombie likes to hang out in this room. Otherwise, there aren't any items lying around in the main area. However, if you're willing to put in a little effort to break down the bathroom door – either by force or by picking the lock – you can find some goodies. Depending on the difficulty, it'll be ACID ROUNDS or SHOTGUN BULLETS. You can also snag a GUEST MEMO 1 in here, which might give you some context or hints.

Now, if you're playing as Alyssa, her lockpick skill is super useful here. She can get into that bathroom door without needing to bash it down. Here's a quick rundown of the lockpick difficulty for Alyssa:

And here's what you can expect to find inside that locked bathroom, depending on your chosen difficulty:

ROOM 103

Moving on, Room 103 holds the second painting switch you'll need for the puzzle. The loot in here is a bit more varied. You'll find either HANDGUN ROUNDS (on EASY/NORMAL) or a GREEN HERB (on HARD/V.HARD). Just like in Room 102, watch out for a zombie if you're playing on VERY HARD difficulty. The bathroom in this room also has a surprise, but what you find there depends on the difficulty: it could be a GREEN HERB, more HANDGUN ROUNDS, or even a BLUE HERB.

ROOM 104

Finally, we've got Room 104, which contains the third and final painting switch for the puzzle. If you're not playing on HARD difficulty, you can find HANDGUN ROUNDS here. For EASY/NORMAL players, there's also a GREEN HERB to pick up. Expect to run into a zombie in this room, so be ready. In the bathroom, you'll find an IRON PIPE, which is always handy to have. There's also a GUEST MEMO here, so grab it if you want more lore or hints.
