Guide to finding 1-Ups and Star Coins in Special Worlds 3, 5, and 7 of Super Mario 3D Land. Learn strategies to maximize your collection before time runs out.

This section details how to find 1-Ups and Star Coins in various rooms within Super Mario 3D Land's Special Worlds.

Special World 3: In a room full of flowers, grab the two Star Coins on either side of the center. A 1-Up appears in the flower patch second column from the top and second row from the top. Another 1-Up is in the center flower patch along the bottom row. Two more 1-Ups are in flower patches in the second and third columns on the second row from the top. Grab a Fire Flower from the ? Block in the north-west corner.

Special World 5: This Golden Box contains six 1-Ups and six Poison Mushrooms in an alternating checkerboard pattern. Grab the Star Coins on either side of the center first. Carefully navigate between the Poison Mushrooms to collect all the 1-Ups. Be cautious as this area is dangerous.

Special World 7 (First Instance): Collect the two Star Coins on the left and right sides of the room. Hit the north-western ? Box first, which provides more coins the more you move. Then, go around the room anti-clockwise, hitting the other ? Blocks, each dropping a 1-Up. It's best to collect these at the end for a higher chance of getting all three.

Special World 7 (Second Instance): Start on the north side. Grab the Fire Flower to your north and the two Star Coins on either side of the room's center. Shoot fireballs at the braziers in each corner. Once all four are lit, four 1-Ups will appear. Collect them all before time runs out.

General Room (First Description): In a room with fake 1-Ups, grab the 1-Up from the center first. Ground Pound the ? Block at the north for a Fire Flower. Use it to break fake 1-Ups. Four of the seven fake 1-Ups contain real 1-Ups (marked 'X' in the diagram below). The west, south, and east fake 1-Ups do not contain 1-Ups (marked 'O'). Collect as many as possible before time runs out.
