Super Mario 3D Land World 5-1 walkthrough: Defeat Boomerang Bros, Sandmaarghs, and collect all Star Coins.
Walkthrough
- 1Grab the Boomerang Plant. Break the middle of the three cacti for a coin.
- 2Move north-east and use your boomerang to defeat the two Pokies. Collect the coins they drop.
- 3Move left, underneath the ridge. A Warp Pipe will be revealed in a small gap in the wall. Enter the Warp Pipe.
- 4Collect all the coins under the brick blocks, then take a running jump onto the brick blocks. Collect all the coins on the brick blocks and move to the left brick block. From there, jump and grab the first Star Coin.
- 5Hit the brick block in the far right corner multiple times for coins (it's the only brick block containing them). Exit the area.
- 6Outside, stomp the Tanooki Goomba and the two that jump down the steps.
- 7Go left down the side of the steps to find a P-Switch. Hit it and collect the trail of rainbow notes that appear to get a 1-Up.
- 8Go up the steps and move along the thin blue path balanced on the rock.
- 9Once you reach the other side, jump onto the Tanooki Thwomps after they thwomp into the ground. Jump past them.
- 10Jump on top of the second Thwomp. Wait until it moves underneath the second Star Coin and jump up to grab it. Jump past the Thwomp and continue on.
- 11Before the ramp, let the two Sandmaarghs move underneath you. As soon as their shadows disappear, jump away. When their mouths close, stomp them.
- 12Continue up the ramp and enter the door.
- 13Hit the Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) Flag (a type of marker that saves your progress) and run across the cracked platform.
- 14Stay in the centre of the moving platform and stomp the Boomerang Bro that appears on the north edge before it can throw more than a single boomerang. Dodge the boomerang as it comes back. Grab the Boomerang Plant it drops if needed.
- 15Move to the southern edge. Stay where you are as a Sandmaargh appears to your north. Deal with it like the previous ones.
- 16Move back to the south edge and let the four Spiked Balls roll past.
- 17When you move up high enough, jump through the red ring to activate the appearance of five red coins. Grab the north red coin immediately, and then collect them all in an anti-clockwise order.
- 18Jump off the right edge of the ship and grab the top of the Goal Pole for a 1-Up.
Tips
- The moving blue path is designed to put you off; focus on reaching the other side.
- When dealing with Sandmaarghs, wait for them to surface and their mouths to close before stomping them.
- The red coins in this level are challenging due to the simultaneous appearance of seven Spiked Balls. Prioritize grabbing them quickly.
- A Warp Pipe at the start of the World 5 map leads to Special World 5.
