Complete walkthrough for Part 50 and World 8-2 in Super Mario 3D Land, including all Star Coin locations and strategies.
Walkthrough
- 1Enter the cannon. Aim higher than the Goal Pole to grab a hidden Star Coin. You will land back on the strip with Spiked Balls. Run back down and re-enter the cannon.
- 2From within the cannon, aim a fair distance higher than the Goal Pole. Fire and grab the top of the Goal Pole for your 1-Up.
- 3In World 8-2, move north-east onto the first platform, climb the pole, and move right. Jump to the next platform, climb to the top, move right, and jump to the third pole.
- 4Move to the top of the third pole and over to the right side. Jump off and grab the Star Coin just after the two Rocket Engines below you stop.
- 5Land and jump up the steps to your right, moving out of the way of the Rocket Engines.
- 6Move just in front of a Prongo so it dives onto your position. As soon as it starts diving, move out of the way and stomp its underside after it lands. Repeat for the second Prongo.
- 7Hit the ? Block in the north-west corner for coins. Jump onto the pole to your right.
- 8As the pole moves along the line above, move up and down to collect coins. Ensure you are above the Rocket Engines when you pass them.
- 9When the pole stops, jump right and hit the middle ? Block along the back wall for a coin.
- 10Move south and kick the rock for a coin. A Coin Coffer will appear; stomp him five times without touching the ground to receive a 1-Up. Collect his dropped coins.
- 11Move to the wooden platform at the far wall. Jump onto the yellow platform to your right when it is around a third of the way from the bottom towards the left side.
- 12The brick block in the center of this wheel contains coins.
- 13When the platform you are on is near the right side, jump off onto the higher of the two yellow platforms to your right, watching out for the two Rocket Engines.
- 14Stay on this yellow platform until it rotates to the right side. Jump off and onto the Donut Blocks to grab the Star Coin. Jump to the next yellow platform as it moves towards you.
- 15Sit on the left side of the platform to move underneath the right Rocket Engine. When between the two Rocket Engines, jump onto their platform and hit the Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) Flag.
- 16Move north collecting coins. Defeat the Prongo by stomping its underside after it dives.
- 17Jump up onto the brick blocks in the far left corner. Move onto the one in the very corner and jump to hit an invisible ? Block containing a Tanooki Leaf.
- 18Drop back down, hitting the back two brick blocks for a coin each.
- 19Move right and jump onto the pole. Climb to the top and move right. When the pole to your right moves up, jump onto it.
- 20Move to the right side of the current pole and jump onto the next one. Jump onto the Donut Block and then onto the grassy platform. Staying at the top of the last two poles avoids the Rocket Engines.
- 21Deal with the two Prongos. Run up the steps to your north and along the Donut Blocks.
- 22Run to catch the pole that starts moving away from you. Grab on, then move up and down to collect coins. When passing Rocket Engines, move toward the gap. Forget the last few coins if time is short; move up or down immediately after passing a set to prepare for the next.
- 23When you reach the end, jump off the right side of the pole onto the platform below.
- 24Wait for the Rocket Engine to stop and run past it over the Donut Blocks. Jump straight across from that set of Donut Blocks to the next set.
Tips
- If you get hit by a Spiked Ball in Part 50, don't worry, as you are about to complete the level and don't require a specific suit.
- When collecting coins on the moving poles, move up and down to collect them.
- When passing Rocket Engines on moving poles, move toward the gap and be prepared to quickly move up or down after each set.
- If you stay at the top of the last two poles before the grassy platform, you will avoid the Rocket Engines.
