Learn how to get the good ending in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition on your very first playthrough by obtaining the Chrono Cross and using it correctly in the final battle.

Alright, so you want to see the good ending in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition right from your first go? It's totally doable, but you've gotta know a couple of key steps. Don't worry, I'll walk you through it!

Step 1: Obtain the Chrono Cross

First things first, you need the Chrono Cross itself. You can't get this until after you've dealt with Chronopolis. You'll need two special items: the Tear of Hate and the Tear of Love. Once you have those, make your way to the Divine Dragon Falls in Another World. There are two broken Dragon Tears on pedestals there. Just place the Tear of Hate and Tear of Love on them, and bam! You'll get the legendary Chrono Cross.

Once you've snagged it, remember to equip it to Serge's Element Grid. Putting it in a Level 1 slot is usually a good idea.

Step 2: Use the Chrono Cross Against the Time Devourer (True Form)

This is the crucial part! During the final showdown with the awakened Time Devourer at Opassa Beach (not Terra Tower, remember that!), you need to cast the Chrono Cross at a very specific moment. The game will actually give you clues about the order of Element colors you need to use.

The sequence is: Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, and White. You can use any Elements for this, as long as they match the color. To make things easier, I highly recommend giving all three of your party members Level 1 Elements of all six colors. This way, you're prepared.

Here's the tricky bit: The Time Devourer might cast its own Elements, which can mess up your sequence. So, when the battle begins, don't go crazy attacking right away. Instead, have everyone do standard attacks until Serge has at least 3 stamina and your other party members have at least 2. Then, have everyone Defend. Wait for the Time Devourer to cast its first Element (it's usually Omega Green at the start).

As soon as it finishes its move, it's your cue! Have Serge cast a Level 1 Yellow Element. Then, have your other two characters follow up with Red and then Green Elements. This starts the chain.

After those first three, quickly have your party cast the next Elements in the sequence: Blue, then Black, then White. The Time Devourer still shouldn't have had a turn yet.

Now's your moment! Before it can do anything else, have Serge cast the Chrono Cross. If you've done it right, this will instantly end the fight and trigger the good ending!

After the credits roll, make sure to save your game. It's a good idea to use a different save slot. This cleared game file will then be super useful for starting a New Game Plus or Continue Plus playthrough.
