Learn how the Field Effect works in chrono cross the radical dreamers edition, including how element usage changes colors and affects power.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
At the start of battle, the Field Effect is randomly set to 3 colors.
  2. 2
When an Element is used by either you or an enemy, its color is added to the rightmost position of the Field Effect.
  3. 3
The existing colors shift left, and the leftmost color disappears to maintain the 3-color limit.
  4. 4
The Field Effect will continuously change as more Elements are used throughout the battle.

What Does the Field Effect Do?

The Field Effect directly impacts the power of Elements used in battle. For each color in the Field Effect that matches an Element's color, that Element's power is boosted by 12.5%. Conversely, for each color in the Field Effect that is the opposite of an Element's color, its power is reduced by 12.5%, with a maximum damage reduction cap of 33.5%.

For example, if the Field Effect is entirely Red, Red Elements gain a 37.5% power boost, while Blue Elements (Red's opposite) suffer the maximum 33.5% power reduction.

By strategically using Elements, you can manipulate the Field Effect to maximize your damage output or minimize incoming damage from enemies. For instance, spamming Red Elements like Tablets can shift the Field Effect to all Red before unleashing a powerful Red Element like Volcano.

Additionally, certain Summon Elements can only be used when the Field Effect is completely unified into a single color.

Tips
  • Pay attention to the opposing Element pairs: Red vs. Blue, Green vs. Yellow, and Black vs. White.
  • Plan your Element usage to create favorable Field Effects before using powerful offensive Elements.
  • If you aim to use a Summon Element, focus on using Elements of the same color to unify the Field Effect.
