How does New Game Plus Work?

Learn how New Game Plus works in chrono cross the radical dreamers edition: what carries over, new items like the Time Egg, and recruiting characters.

Features of New Game Plus:

• Carry Over Growth Stars: All Growth Stars (up to 48) from your previous playthrough carry over, making your characters much stronger.
• Carry Over Equipment/Items: Most equipment and items carry over, with the exception of Key Items and specific event-related items: Mastermune, Einlanzer, Hero’s Blade, Hero’s Shield, Hero’s Medal, Dragoon’s Honor, Star Fragment, Master Hammer, and Blue Brooch.
• Carry Over Elements: Most Elements carry over, excluding Chrono Cross, all Summon Elements, and all Level 7 Techs obtained via events.
• Carry Over Gold: All your Gold carries over.
• New Key Items:
  • Time Egg: Allows you to fight the Time Devourer (awakened) at Opassa Beach at any point in the game, essential for multiple endings.
  • Time Shifter: (Remastered version has this always available) Lets you speed up or slow down the game.
  • Relief Charm: Allows you to remove Serge from your party.
• Recruit Characters from Previous Playthrough: Once you re-obtain the Chrono Cross Element, you can use it to re-recruit all characters from your cleared save file. To do this, go to Hydra Marshes (Home World), proceed north one screen towards the dimensional hole, use the Astral Amulet to return to the vortex. You will emerge in Sprigg’s home, where the Chrono Cross will react. Use it from the key items menu to regain all past characters. This allows you to use your gathered characters for the last dungeon.
• Open the Locked Door at the Bend of Time: This door, located on a small, unnamed island west of the Dead Sea Ruins, is only accessible in New Game Plus (or Continue Plus). It leads to encounters with enemies from missable locations.
