Defeat the Time Devourer (True Form) in chrono cross the radical dreamers edition. Learn the Chrono Cross Element sequence or normal attack strategy.
The awakened Time Devourer has fused with Schala and serves as the final boss in chrono cross the radical dreamers edition. Despite its role, it is considered a step down from the non-awakened version. The fight involves whittling down its 10,000 HP.
- Chrono Cross Element (for the easy way)
- Level 1 Elements of all 6 colors for all 3 party members (for the easy way)
- Green Plate armor (optional, but highly recommended for the normal way)
- Rainbow weapons or Mastermune/Twin Einlanzers (for the normal way)
- Accessories like Power Seal, and those that nullify sprain and poison (optional, for the normal way)
Walkthrough
- 1Easy Way to Beat the Time Devourer:
- Allocate the Chrono Cross Element to Serge’s Level 1 slot.
- 2Allocate Level 1 Elements of all 6 colors (Turn Color Elements are recommended) for all 3 party members.
- 3Warning: Defend until your Elemental Power Level is at least 3 for Serge and at least 2 for the others. You may be hit by an Omega Green Element; consider equipping the Green Plate armor on a character prone to heavy damage.
- 4Once Elemental Power is sufficient, Defend until the Time Devourer casts its next Element.
- 5Have Serge cast a Level 1 Yellow Element.
- 6Have your other two characters cast Red, then Green Elements.
- 7Have Serge cast a Level 1 Blue Element.
- 8Quickly cast Black, followed by White Elements with your remaining characters.
- 9If the turn is still yours, have Serge cast Chrono Cross. This should defeat the boss instantly and lead to the Good Ending.
- This method is not recommended for a first playthrough unless you are collecting trophies/achievements, as it is used to obtain the Bad Ending.
- To speed up this process for multiple endings, exploit the Continue Plus feature:
- Keep a save file after obtaining the Green Plate and Chrono Cross, but before fighting the Time Devourer.
- Beat the Time Devourer using the Chrono Cross method to get the Good Ending. Save in a different slot when prompted.
- Load the newly created cleared save file and use Continue Plus to load the save file with the Green Plate and Chrono Cross. This allows you to carry over gear and Essences, effectively giving you multiple Green Plates.
- Return to Opassa Beach (any world) and use the Time Egg to fight the Time Devourer again. Beat it with the Chrono Cross method and save over the previous cleared save file (not the Green Plate/Chrono Cross save).
- Load the cleared save file and use Continue Plus to the Green Plate/Chrono Cross save again. You should now have 3 Green Plates.
- With 3 Green Plates equipped on your party members, start the battle.
- Equip Rainbow weapons (or Mastermune for Serge/Twin Einlanzers for Glenn) and any useful accessories (Power Seal is good for damage boost). Consider accessories to nullify sprain and poison.
- Turn on auto-battle. Since the Time Devourer only uses Green Elements for half the fight, your party will take zero damage during this phase.
- When the Time Devourer uses a Yellow Element or anything other than Green, turn off auto-battle.
- If you are strong enough, heal up, cast Diminish, and then re-enable auto-battle, healing occasionally as needed.
- If you do not have the Green Plate, stock up on healing Elements like Recover All, Heal All, Cure All, and damage-boosting Elements like Strengthen and Eagle Eye. Allocate a couple of Diminish Elements if concerned about damage.
Tips
- The Time Devourer attacks by casting various Elements, starting with Green and eventually following the harmonic sequence: Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, and White.
- Omega versions of Elements are extremely powerful.
- The Green Plate armor, stolen from the Green Dragon, significantly reduces damage from Green Elements.
- Diminish is an Element that can reduce incoming damage.
- Good Ending (using Chrono Cross Element strategy)
- Bad Ending (defeating normally without the Chrono Cross strategy)
