How does Continue Plus Work?

Learn how Continue Plus works in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. Discover what carries over, new features, and how to duplicate items.

After defeating the final boss and watching the credits in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, you can save your game to create a cleared save file. Loading this cleared save file presents two options: New Game + and Continue +. Choosing Continue + allows you to resume your adventure with certain elements from your previous playthrough intact.

How to Begin Continue Plus:

1. After watching the credits, save your game, preferably in a different slot.
2. Load this cleared save file.
3. Choose 'Continue +'.
4. Select an existing save file that has not yet been completed and has not been used for a New Game Plus or Continue Plus run.
5. You will then continue from the selected save file, retaining features from your cleared game.

Features of Continue Plus:

• Carry Over Growth Stars: All Growth Stars from your previous playthrough (typically 48 for the first New Game Plus or Continue Plus) are carried over, making your characters significantly stronger.
• Carry Over Equipment/Items: Most equipment and items transfer, with the exception of Key Items. Key Items that do not carry over include: Mastermune, Einlanzer, Hero’s Blade, Hero’s Shield, Hero’s Medal, Dragoon’s Honor, Star Fragment, Master Hammer, and Blue Brooch. Items you had in both your cleared save and the current save file will be duplicated.
• Carry Over Elements: Most Elements carry over, excluding Chrono Cross, all Summon Elements, and all Level 7 Techs obtained via events. Carried over Elements are added to those already present in the current save file.
• Carry Over Gold: All Gold from your cleared save file is carried over and merged with the gold in your current save file.
• New Key Items: You receive new Key Items:
  • Time Egg: Allows you to fight the Time Devourer (awakened) at Opassa Beach at any point. Essential for achieving multiple endings.
  • Time Shifter: (Remastered version only) Allows you to speed up or slow down the game.
  • Relief Charm: Allows you to remove Serge from your party.
• Recruit Characters from Previous Playthrough: Recruited characters are carried over. Once you re-obtain the Chrono Cross Element, you can use it in the Astral Amulet at the Temporal Vortex in Hydra Marshes (Home World) to regain all previously recruited characters.
• Open the Locked Door at the Bend of Time: A previously locked door at the Bend of Time, west of the Dead Sea Ruins, becomes accessible, leading to encounters from missable locations.

How to Duplicate Items/Elements with Continue Plus:

1. Continue Plus into a save file containing the rare items/Elements you wish to duplicate.
2. Use the Time Egg to fight and defeat the final boss.
3. Save your new cleared save file in a different slot or overwrite your previous one.
4. Load the newly created cleared save file.
5. Repeat the process from step 1.

This method is effective for duplicating items like Rainbow Shells, shiny materials, Plate armors, Moonglasses, Sunglasses, and Vigora.
