Fort Dragonia: How to Beat Dark Serge

Alright, so you've made it to Fort Dragonia and you're facing down Dark Serge. Don't let the fact that you've beaten other tough bosses like Dario and the six dragons fool you – this guy is a serious challenge, and he's basically an evil version of you! He's got Lynx's moves and a whole arsenal of high-level Elements, so we need to be smart about this.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Dark Serge: Uses Lynx's techs and high-level Elements.
• Key Threats: Feral Cats (party-wide Black tech), Black Hole (insta-kill), Volcano followed by Forever Zero (massive Black damage, potential one-shot).
• Buffs: Can cast Strengthen, Ninety-Nine (99 hit rate), and Vigora (stops stamina decrease).
• Stealable Items: Trashy Tiara (common), Rainbow Shell (rare).

Strategy:

• First off, keep an eye out for Feral Cats; it's a Black tech that hits everyone.
• The most dangerous move is definitely Black Hole, as it can instantly defeat a character. If you can, try to set up your own Black Hole trap to counter it.
• Pay close attention after he uses Volcano. He'll do a regular attack, and then unleash Forever Zero. This one deals HUGE Black damage to the whole party and can even one-shot your characters if they aren't prepared.
• If you managed to snag the Black Plate armor from the Black Dragon, equip it on someone, especially if they're a White Innate. Lynx should be able to survive with high HP and this armor.
• Consider using the Diminish Element. Just remember that it'll lower the power of your own Elements too, so it's a trade-off.
• Later in the fight, Dark Serge might cast Strengthen on himself. Shortly after, he'll use Ninety-Nine and Vigora back-to-back. This boosts his hit rate and stops his stamina from draining. When this happens, he's going to unleash a flurry of attacks on one character.
• Crucial Tip: When he uses Ninety-Nine and Vigora, your best bet is to Defend. Even if you used Diminish, it doesn't protect against his regular attacks. To be extra safe, you can cast Weaken and/or Bat Eye on him to reduce the damage of his standard attacks.
• If you've got the Mastermune, now's a fantastic time to use it!

After the Fight:

Once you finally defeat Dark Serge, he'll retreat. Use the elevator he was guarding to get to the upper levels of Fort Dragonia. Head to the central teleporter to reach the top floor. After passing through the door, you'll get Serge's original body back, and your Dragon Tear will transform into the Tear of Love. Nice!
