Follow this guide to complete the 'Long Mein, Ardent Guardsman' sidequest in Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Learn where to find Long Mein and how to win the skirmish!

Alright, so you've got a sidequest called 'Long Mein, Ardent Guardsman' popping up. This one's a bit of a chase, but it's worth it for the rewards. You'll be looking for a trainee guard named Long Mein who's a bit too enthusiastic and keeps running off.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
First things first, you'll find Long Mein near the main entrance in Goldpaw. Chat with him, and he'll immediately take off again.
  2. 2
Your next stop is Luckless Lane, which is north of the item shop in Goldpaw. Talk to him there, and guess what? He runs off again, this time towards the casino.
  3. 3
Head into the casino and find him. After another brief encounter where he makes some wild accusations, he'll dash off one more time. This time, he's headed for Master Pugnacius’ residence.
  4. 4
You'll find him stopped by the gatekeeper just outside the residence. Speak to the gatekeeper and convince him to let Long Mein come to Evermore. He'll agree, but only if you prove your worth by winning a skirmish.
  5. 5
The skirmish is located just outside of Goldpaw. It's a Level 10 skirmish, so you should be well-equipped to handle it, especially if you've been following the 'Sidequesting It Up' guide and have leveled up your troops.
  6. 6
Skirmish Strategy: In the first section, you'll face a lot of sword units. Your best bet here is to deploy Yung Mein, as he's a perfect counter. All the enemy units are wyverns and they can shoot fireballs. Keep an eye on their positioning; they can only shoot straight ahead, so try to veer off to the sides to dodge their attacks.
  7. 7
After clearing the first wave, you'll need to return to the waypoint on your map. More enemy units will spawn in the large, sandy area.
  8. 8
Most of these enemies will be sword users, so keep Yung Mein in front. However, there's a solo hammer unit (Level 10) that can be quite dangerous. If it targets Yung Mein, he might get overwhelmed.
  9. 9
Tip: If the battle gets too intense, don't be afraid to retreat temporarily and wait for your troops to regroup. You can use the Circle button to do this. You'll also get some allied reinforcements and friendly cannons, so try to lure the enemies into their range for some extra help.
  10. 10
Once you've defeated all the enemies in the skirmish, return to Long Mein to complete the quest.
