Complete the Volare! quest in Fallout: New Vegas. Meet Mother Pearl, find the Brotherhood patrol, and help the Boomers by completing tasks like Ant Misbehavin'.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Upon reaching the gate of Nellis AFB, you'll be met by a Boomer Guard and then Raquel. Agree to go with Raquel to meet Mother Pearl.
  2. 2
Mother Pearl, the Boomer matriarch, expects you. If you succeed at a [Speech 20] check, she will explain their isolationism and the changing world. She will then ask you to complete tasks to prove your worth, initiating the Volare! quest. You will gain the ability to enter and exit Nellis AFB freely.
  3. 3
Your objective is to find the third and final Brotherhood patrol, who were lost to the Boomers' artillery fire.
  4. 4
Search the ruins southwest of Nellis AFB. The Brotherhood of Steel Mission Holotape is in a crater near a ruined car. Another dead Paladin can be found on a shattered concrete wall.
  5. 5
After obtaining the holotape, you can leave. However, it is recommended to help the Boomers and then visit the Crimson Caravan compound. This approach helps with Brotherhood of Steel requests, prevents revisiting areas, and allows for exploration.
  6. 6
Return to Nellis AFB to help the Boomers.
  7. 7
After being accepted by the Boomers, you can safely search the ruins outside Nellis AFB for the missing Brotherhood patrol.

Helping the Boomers:

  1. Complete the quests Ant Misbehavin’, Sunshine Boogie, and Young Hearts to gain Boomer Fame and progress.
  2. Explore Pearl’s Barracks:
    • Loot Cabinets in the bathroom for apparel (including Combat Armor) and a First Aid Box on the wall.
    • North-northeast of the kitchen, find Lockers with weapons and a First Aid Box nearby.
    • In the living room, on the south-southwestern wall, find a copy of Duck and Cover, a Grenade Rifle, and 40mm Grenades.
    • Along the same wall, find Filing Cabinets containing Col. Blackwell’s Key and the note “Inventory Transfer Order”. This key bypasses a [Very Hard] lock.
  3. Speak to Raquel on an elevated barricade at the southern end of the base during the day to accept the Ant Misbehavin’ quest. She will explain that Giant Ants have infested the generator building and that they are explosive. She advises against using Flamers or laser weaponry and suggests Loyal might have a special weapon. She gives you the “Nellis Generator Key”.
  4. Explore other Boomer Barracks:
    • Nellis Schoolhouse: Loot the teacher’s desk [Very Easy] for magazines and other items. Find a First Aid Box on a bookshelf.
    • Nellis Women’s Barracks: Loot four Gun Cabinets, a First Aid Box, and a Refrigerator.
    • Nellis Men’s Barracks: Loot three Gun Cabinets and two First Aid Boxes (one in the bathroom, one near cabinets).
    • Nellis Children’s Barracks: Find BBs and a Baseball Bat.
    • Second Women’s Barracks: Loot a First Aid Box, Cabinet, and Refrigerator.
Tips
  • Col. Blackwell’s Key can bypass a [Very Hard] lock in a vault.
  • Helping the Boomers first can streamline other quests and exploration.
  • Access to Nellis AFB.
  • Ability to come and go from Nellis AFB freely.
  • Progress in the Volare! quest.
  • Potential loot from various barracks and locations.
