Learn how to break the Great Khan alliance with Caesar's Legion in Fallout: New Vegas. Guide covers convincing key figures like Jack, Diane, and Melissa, and dealing with Karl.
Walkthrough
- 1Speak with Yes Man about the Boomers, then travel to Nellis AFB and talk to Mother Pearl. If you've completed the quest Volare!, she'll agree to help.
- 2If you choose to proceed with the Great Khans, tell Yes Man they've vowed to help. Travel to Red Rock Canyon and enter the Great Khan Longhouse.
- 3Talk to Regis, who is more open to breaking ties with Caesar's Legion than Papa Khan. This starts the quest Oh My Papa.
- 4To break the alliance, you need to discredit Karl and convince Jack, Diane, and Melissa to speak out against the Legion.
- 5Deal with Karl:
- Find Karl's Journal in his footlocker in his room within the Great Khan Longhouse.
- 6Show the journal to Papa Khan to have Karl killed, satisfying Regis' need for evidence.
- 7Alternatively, pass Speech checks (25, 50, 75) to make Karl reveal his anti-Khan sentiments publicly. You will still need to present the Legion Slave Ledger to Regis.
- 8Gather Evidence: Obtain the Legion Slave Ledger from Caesar's tent (this should have been done previously if following the guide).
- 9Convince Jack and Diane: Seek them out at the Red Rock Drug Lab. If you completed Aba Daba Honeymoon and rescued Anders, they will be receptive. Diane is the key; once she's convinced, Jack will follow.
- 10Convince Melissa: Fast-travel to the Great Khan Encampment near Quarry Junction. Convince her that women cannot join the Legion.
- 11Once Karl is discredited and Jack, Diane, and Melissa are on board, return to Papa Khan.
- 12Advise Papa Khan:
- Pass one of two Speech 75 checks to tell him to "claim your own glory!" (leading the Khans out of the Mojave) or that they are "ghosts and martyrs" (leading a suicidal attack on Caesar's Legion).
- 13If you cannot pass the Speech checks, seek out Julie Farkas at the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside. She will direct you to Ezekiel.
- 14Find Ezekiel at the 188 Trading Post. He will give you a copy of Pretty, Pretty Horsies: A History of the Mongol Empire.
- 15Return to Papa Khan with the book. Choose the dialogue option discussing what his tribe could be to convince him to move on, or call Caesar's Legion "a bunch of thugs, aping the glories of the past" to convince him to attack the Legion.
