Nipton

Guide to Nipton in Fallout: New Vegas. Discover loot, encounter Jacklyn and Tomas, and learn about the Legion's massacre from Vulpes Inculta. Find items in the Town Hall.

After following the road east, you'll reach the Nipton Road Rest Stop, a collection of ruined buildings inhabited by Jackal Gang Members. Once they are dealt with, search the northern building for a Mine Box and a Grenade Box (Easy). You can also find a Briefcase under a blue car and a Dufflebag hidden behind a bush in the southern part of the area. Press on east afterwards.

Between the Nipton Road Rest Stop and Nipton, you may encounter Jacklyn and Tomas fighting. The survivor will approach you. If Tomas survives, you can use a successful Speech 50 check to convince him to give you Jacklyn's "lucky charm necklace." If Jacklyn survives, she may have two Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Caps. If she killed Tomas, she will also have his necklace, which is worth seven Star Bottle Caps. You can also kill the survivor to take their Caps or steal them.

As you approach Nipton, you'll notice signs of destruction, including smoke and red bull standards. On the outskirts, you'll meet Oliver Swanick, a Powder Ganger who claims to have won a lottery. He will then run off. Continuing into town, you'll see more signs of violence, such as heads on spikes and crucified people. North of the General Store, near the town hall, you'll find Legion soldiers led by Vulpes Inculta. He will explain the town's destruction and ask you to spread the word about the Legion's strength and the NCR's vulnerability. This conversation starts the quest Cold, Cold Heart.

Inside the Nipton Town Hall, you'll find many dead Wastelanders with losing Lottery Tickets. Be wary of a Frag Mine behind the counter to the east, where you can find a Worn Key. This key unlocks a locked door to the north (Hard). Downstairs, you'll find a room with chems, a Gun Cabinet, a Stash Toolbox, a Refrigerator, a Vending Machine, an Explosives Crate, a First Aid Box, and food. On the second floor, kill some Legion Mongrels and search the room to the south for a Dead Prospector. In the offices to the east, there's another Frag Mine. Head west to Steyn's Office.

On the third floor, loot two Vending Machines and a Refrigerator to the north. In the bathroom to the east, find a First Aid Box. South down a hallway, open a locked door (Very Easy) to the west. To the east, through an unlocked door, is the Mayor's office. Interact with Mayor Steyn's Terminal for information about him. On the desk, find the Big Book of Science, a box of Mentats, and some Programmer's Digest magazines. In a ruined cabinet behind the desk, find 40 Energy Cells, a Laser Pistol, a copy of Future Weapons Today, and a Bobby Pin. Finally, open the locked door (Average) to the east to find a small storage room with a Gun Cabinet, an Armor Case, a 10mm Pistol, 32 10mm Rounds, food, chems, and a Nuka-Cola Victory.
