Embark on your Andromeda journey! This guide covers waking up on the Hyperion, fixing malfunctions, and preparing for your first planetary expedition.

Alright, so you've just woken up after a crazy long nap – 634 years, can you believe it? You're one of 20,000 colonists heading to Andromeda, and guess what? You're part of the Pathfinder team. Your dad, Alec Ryder, is the main Pathfinder, but you're right there with him, ready to scout new planets and meet aliens. It's a huge job, but for now, just focus on getting that first cup of coffee in centuries.

Things get wild when the Hyperion hits a space anomaly. You'll be floating around in zero-G – just use the [Right Analog] stick to look. Once gravity kicks back in, you'll finally have control of your character.

Don't worry about the gravity hiccup; it's actually a good chance to get a feel for the controls. After it's sorted, you'll need to check on your sibling. Before diving into anything heavy, though, it's a good idea to get some background. Hit the [Options]/[Menu] button to open the menu. The “Codex” is packed with lore that'll help you understand everything going on. Your “Journal” will show you your current quests – right now, it's just “Primary Ops - Prologue: Hyperion”. We'll cover the other menus as they become useful.

Ready to move on? Head to the northeastern part of the room and chat with Dr. T’Perro for an update on your brother. While you're in the cryostasis recovery area, poke around for some Datapads to read and an “Information Wall” to interact with.

You'll see another malfunction just outside this room. Luckily, you've got your scanner! Press [Down] to activate it. You'll be prompted to scan some unstable machinery on the southwestern side of the room. Move the orange display over the machinery and press [X]/[A] on the highlighted parts. Once SAM figures out the problem, find a Power Terminal and fix it.

Keep going west, up some stairs, and through two doors until you reach the tram. Ride it to the bridge. More malfunctions await, and you'll find out your dad and Captain Dunn have different ideas about what to do first. Naturally, the Pathfinder gets his way. Since you're a recon specialist on his team, it looks like you'll be getting off this ship sooner rather than later.

You'll have some dialogue choices here. They don't usually change the outcome drastically, but notice the icons next to them – they show Ryder's tone. Before you head out on your first real adventure, make sure you're armed. You'll get a chance to grab your Initiative Helmet I and a side-arm, the M-3 Predator, in the Hangar Bay.

Hyperion - Hangar Bay

After a bit more talking with Cora, you'll end up in the Hangar Bay. It's time to gear up for the expedition. Chat with some crewmates, check out the lockers, read any datapads you find, and then grab your Initiative Helmet I from a shelf to the north. SAM will insist you also grab a side-arm, the M-3 Predator, from a weapons locker in the southwestern corner. Once you're all geared up, the last thing to do is touch your dad's Lucky Rock in the northeastern corner of the hangar. Then, head out the east door. More dialogue will follow, and then you'll board a shuttle, ready to be one of the first humans from the Hyperion to step onto an Andromeda planet.
