Guide to completing the Restoring a World mission in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Learn how to find and activate the three monoliths on Voeld to open the vault.
To terraform Voeld you’ll need to restart the vault, but before that you need to find - and open up - the vault, which naturally involves locating and fiddling around with the three monoliths that invariably surround the entrance to the vault. That’s right, Eos was basically a template for how this will play out on other planets.
The Eastern Monolith: The first monolith is south of the Voeld outpost. Drive down and look for an icy ravine leading into caverns. The monolith's base is encased in ice. Be wary of an Eiroch guarding the tunnels. Near the monolith base, wedged in next to some Remnant platforms, you can scan a Lithium Sample to advance the quest “Task: Hitting Rocks for Science”.
At the monolith's base, you'll find a Remnant Console. It's encrypted with a Remnant puzzle. Scan the ground to find yellow conduits, then follow them to glyphs to make solving the puzzle easier. Each monolith on Voeld requires solving a puzzle, which helps progress towards the trophy/achievement “Cryptographer”.
Scan the ground and note three conduits running from the Remnant Console. One runs west, northwest. Head north, northwest from the console to find a small section of Remnant wall sticking out of the ice, in the shadow of a monolith arm. Look for a glowing light indicating a glyph, or scan for glowing orange text that says “scan me!” Scan the glyph.
Return to the Remnant Console and head north, northeast to find Remnant platforms. Leap onto them and turn northwest to spot a monolith arm with the second glyph. Walk to the end of the arm to find the other two glyphs. With all three glyphs scanned, drop down, interact with the Remnant Console, and solve the puzzle.
The Northern Monolith: This monolith is to the northeast, buried in ice. A ravine leads to the base from the east. The three glyphs are on different arms of the monolith. Ascend to the snowy heights around the monolith and drop onto the arms to reach them. One glyph is on a mostly-covered arm northeast of the Remnant Console, the second is on an arm to the east, southeast, and the third is on an arm to the north. You can jump between the second and third arms. After scanning the glyphs, drop to the base, activate the Remnant Console, and solve the puzzle.
Scan an Adaptive Remnant Core Device north of the Remnant Console, then head to the final monolith.
The Western Monolith: This third, southeastern-most monolith is south and slightly east of the northernmost monolith, near ice pillar formations. A Remnant site and Mining Zone are nearby, with potential Kett presence. Mining here can yield over 100 Platinum.
This monolith is buried in ice, with an icy tunnel to its base south of the monolith (approach from the east to find it). The tunnel is too small for the Nomad. Stay above ground and head to the north-facing side of the monolith. Along the eastern end, find a small wedge of Remnant structure above the ice with two glyphs. If you have trouble, scan and follow a conduit to its source.
Return to the southern edge and crawl through the icy tunnels to the monolith's base. From the Remnant Console, head east behind an ice-crowned arm to find another sliver of Remnant material with the third glyph. Scan it, solve the Remnant puzzle, and the Voeld vault will be open.
