Returning to Eos in Mass Effect: Andromeda? Radiation's down, but Kett activity is up! Discover new quests, mining zones, and face dangerous wildlife like Spitbugs and Fiends.
Alright, so you're heading back to Eos after your trip to Aya. Good call! The radiation that was keeping you pinned down has really calmed down, which means you can pretty much tackle every quest on the planet and really get a good look around. It might not be as flashy as setting up new outposts on Voeld or Havarl, but hey, at least you won't have to deal with the Angara here. It's a great spot to start knocking out those sidequests, but before you dive in, it's a good idea to get a general lay of the land.
Remember after you finished "A Better Beginning" and got that vault on Eos up and running? You probably explored a bit then – checked out Site 1, those three Remnant monoliths, the vault itself, and maybe even hit up a couple of Mining Zones. If that sounds about right, the center-east part of your map should be pretty clear and familiar. That's a good place to start with your quests, and coincidentally, it's where the radiation was weakest before Aya. Turns out, that radiation was mostly just a plot device to keep you busy and give you a reason to get that vault online.
Now, the radiation isn't the only thing that's changed on Eos. While it's decreased, Kett activity has ramped up, probably because the conditions are much better for them now. Expect to find new Kett camps in areas that were clear before. Basically, anything west and north of Prodromos is now Kett territory. Taking out their bigger strongholds will really help Eos become more stable in the long run. Besides the Kett and Remnant, you'll run into various insectoid wildlife on Eos, like Spitbugs, Shemrys, and Kaerkyns. You'll also encounter the more mammalian Challyrions and Taurg. If you're poking around Kett installations in the Presson Dunes, you might even cross paths with Fiends – you'll get a proper introduction to them during the quest "The Secret Project."
You'll also find plenty of new Mining Zones on Eos now that you can explore freely. Unfortunately, Eos isn't exactly bursting with minerals. You'll only find Aluminum, Graphite, Iron, and Vanadium here. Vanadium should be your main target, while the others are pretty easy to gather over time if you have the Mining Operations perk. To really scour Eos for Mining Zones, just look for Forward Stations. Deploying them will reveal nearby map markers, including those all-important Mining Zones.
As you explore and complete quests on Eos and other planets, you'll earn AVP. If you're following this guide sequentially and haven't hit Kadara Port or beyond yet, you might want to hold onto those Cryo Pod perks you unlock. More options tend to open up later, so why spend points now when something better might become available? For simplicity, focusing on the Innovation perk and the Fusion Mod Support perks is a solid bet.
