Walkthrough
  1. 1
From the entrance of the North area, follow the path encircling the swamp to the north-west to find a chest containing a Balsam.
  2. 2
Go back around and follow the southward path between the poisonous pools.
  3. 3
When the swamp forces you to turn south-east, go north-east to exit back to the Central area. Open the chest for a Clothespin.
  4. 4
Return to the North area and travel anti-clockwise around the first swamp pool to your south.
  5. 5
As you pass along the south side of the swamp, slow down as the path narrows. Grab the 600 pg lying on the floor.
  6. 6
Head west, then carefully follow the path as it narrows again through the swamp. Head north-east where there’s open space.
  7. 7
Continue forward and turn left when the swamp reappears to the north to find a Teleport Stone.
  8. 8
Run straight through the swamp to the north. Open the chest on the other side for a pair of Mythril Knuckles.
  9. 9
After crossing back over the swamp, cure your party of poison if needed.
  10. 10
Backtrack to the path through the swamp and head west a few paces.
  11. 11
To the south-west is a very narrow strip of path. Cautiously walk across to discover a chest with a Remedy inside.
  12. 12
Follow the main path in a north-westerly direction to reach the exit of the swamp.
  13. 13
Speak to the Adventurer if you need to prepare for the boss fight.
  14. 14
Carry on north and speak to Mephilia to trigger the choice and the boss fight.

Boss: Mephilia Venus

  • Mephilia — Level 22, 5000 HP, Weakness: None
  • Legion Impaler — Level 22, 800 HP, Weakness: Lightning
  • Legion Archer — Level 22, 700 HP, Weakness: None
  • Legion Mage — Level 22, 800 HP, Weakness: None

Mephilia casts Hresvelgr every three turns, dealing wind magic damage. Always Default on the third turn to mitigate damage. Setting battle speed to at least medium can skip summon animations.

The Legion Archer uses Chaos Arrow to damage and potentially inflict confusion. Equip one character with a Peace Ring to negate confusion, but focus on defeating her first.

The Legion Impaler uses Execution to damage one target and may Default once to Brave on the next turn. The Legion Mage casts Gravity to halve a character's HP (50% chance) or Silence to prevent magic casting.

Defeat the minions quickly. Use Lightning Darts on the Impaler on the first two turns. Have your Fencer, Charioteer, or Thief focus on the Archer and Mage.

When your party takes damage, use group-cast Vivify. For single-character injuries, use Hi-Potions to save MP. Heal before Mephilia casts Hresvelgr.

Once Mephilia's minions are gone, focus on her. Physical attacks are best due to her high magic defense. Keep track of turns to brace for Hresvelgr.

Boss: Nobutsuna Kamiizumi

  • Kamiizumi — Level 22, 6000 HP, Weakness: None
  • Black Blade — Level 22, 800 HP, Weakness: Lightning
  • Black Pikeman — Level 22, 800 HP, Weakness: Lightning
  • Black Axefighter — Level 22, 800 HP, Weakness: Lightning

Kamiizumi uses Nothing Ventured to counter physical attacks and Before Swine to counter magical attacks. He may also attack normally with a chance for a second attack via Multitask.

The minions can inflict confusion (Black Blade's Edge of Madness), counter physical attacks (Black Pikeman), or lower physical defense (Black Axefighter's Shell Split).

Since all minions are weak to Lightning, use a Wizard to defeat them quickly with Lightning Darts. Target the Blade and Pikeman first, then have other characters finish the rest.

When Kamiizumi is alone, be cautious. His counter attacks can critically wound or KO characters. If a character is KO'd, Kamiizumi will Brave 2 times for 3 attacks, then be unable to act for 2 turns. Default to survive his onslaught and gain free turns.

Initially, bypass his counters with spells from a Wizard or Red Mage. A Fencer can attack once or twice after entering Aurochs stance.

After Kamiizumi falls below half HP, he will swap to Before Swine. At this point, you don’t have to hold back.
