Embark on the 'Trouble Brewing' quest in Bravely Second! Learn how to navigate Pilgrim's Grove at night, use the Summon Friend mechanic, and find Nikolai in Gathelatio.

Alright, so you've just finished up the initial setup and Yew and Janne are camping out with the Crystalguard. Things seem peaceful enough, right? Well, don't get too comfortable, because in the middle of the night, Yew hears a scream and wakes up all alone in the Southeast part of Pilgrim's Grove. It's dark, but thankfully, no monsters are around, so just head west back towards the Southwest part of the grove.

When you get there, you'll find Janne and another Crystalguard member on the ground. Talk to Janne to figure out what's going on. After that, a prompt will pop up on your bottom screen – go ahead and press the [X] button to speak into the pendant. Agnes will give you some advice, and then Yew will somehow escape and find himself near the entrance of Pilgrim's Grove. There's not much to do here right now, so just head west to exit the grove.

Back out on the world map, you'll get a tutorial on the Summon Friend mechanic. It's pretty similar to Bravely Default: you can call on characters from friends or guests you've swapped profiles with (via StreetPass or online) to use a powerful ability in battle. Just remember, you can't summon friends unless you send out your own Friend Summon first. Once you do that, any Bravely Second players you swap profiles with will get your summon, and you'll get theirs in return. This also unlocks the Update Data, Update StreetPass, and Add Friends functions, all accessible from the Save menu by talking to the Adventurer or using the quill pen icon on the world map.

Now, back to the main quest. Yew is worried about Nikolai, so you need to head back to Gathelatio, which is to the west. Once you arrive, go up the nearby staircase and run all the way to the Sanctum. Nikolai is waiting for you at the far end.

After that little reunion, Yew's day is still pretty rough, but he's determined to rescue Agnes. When you're ready to go, leave the manor and exit Gathelatio. Before you head out, it's a good idea to stop by the Trader near the exit and stock up on some Potions.

As soon as you hit the world map again, the Auto-Battle feature will be unlocked. Now, with just Yew on his own, Auto-Battle isn't super useful yet, unless you're fighting really weak enemies. If you want to use it, you could set up a Command Set where Yew Braves three times for four attacks, which might help speed things up against single, easy foes. Once you're done with that lesson, it's time to get back to it. Head east like before and re-enter Pilgrim's Grove.
