Guide to completing the Animal Instincts favor in God of War Ragnarök. Find all four Kol Raider camps in Midgard and defeat the Raider Chief, Oluf Nautson.
Walkthrough
- 1The Animal Instincts favor can be started anytime after reaching Midgard during the main story quest, "The Word of Fate."
- 2There are four Kol Raider camps on the Lake of Nine. You can tackle them in any order. Clearing a camp automatically adds the favor to your log.
- 3Raider Fort: Located left of the "Lake of Nine" marker on the map. This camp is relatively open. Enemies include Kol Raiders, Kol Raider Scouts (who throw fire bombs), and a Raider Chief. Use ranged attacks or the Blades' L2 + R1 attack to hit Scouts on outer walls. Counter the Chief's blue-ringed attack with a shield bash.
- 4Raider Stronghold: Located underneath Tyr’s Temple, with the entrance on the northern side. This is likely the easiest camp, with only four regular Kol Raiders.
- 5Raider Hideout: Located east of the Raider Stronghold. Take the lower path at a split to find the entrance. Enemies include regular Kol Raiders and Scouts. A pot that produces fire bombs is available for use. More enemies will appear after the first wave.
- 6Raider Keep: Located on the southern side of Tyr’s Temple, near the ice wall. This camp has a good number of enemies, including Kol Raiders and Scouts. Be aware of Scouts on upper levels.
- 7After clearing the fourth camp, the Raider Chief, Oluf Nautson, will spawn.
Tips
- Kol Raiders are similar to regular Raiders, but their weapons are on fire. Their attacks are blockable.
- Kol Raider Scouts are more dangerous as they throw fire bombs. Watch for the danger indicator.
- The Raider Chief encountered at the Raider Fort has a blue-ringed attack that can be countered with a shield bash.
- When fighting Oluf Nautson, be aware of his yellow-ringed attacks (guard break) and red-ringed attacks (unblockable grab).
- Oluf Nautson can regain health by drinking (double blue rings). Interrupt this by double-tapping the shield button.
- As Oluf's health lowers, he will chain attacks, including a blue-ringed Ground Smash.
