Follow our guide to complete the 'Hel to Pay' Favor in God of War Ragnarök. Learn how to find and close all six Hel Tears across the Nine Realms and earn your Frozen Flame.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Helheim (Main Quest: Reunion): This Hel Tear is encountered on the main story path in The Gleaming Bale. It's impossible to miss and is the first one you can close. While closing this one counts towards the total, it doesn't officially start the Favor.
  2. 2
Svartalfheim: From the Aurvangar Wetlands gateway, head north and get in your boat. Row north, stopping just before the water wheel. Dock on the beach to the right, freeze the geyser, climb the wall, and zipline down. The Hel Tear is directly in front of you. Beware of Archers and Hel-Viken.
  3. 3
Alfheim (The Strond): Teleport to The Strond Mystic Gateway, travel south, and drop off the ledge. The Hel Tear is located here. This area features level 7 enemies, potentially higher than your current level, including Hel-Viken.
  4. 4
Vanaheim (Southern Wilds): Teleport to The Southern Wilds gateway and head slightly north. The Hel Tear is on the main path in The Gleaming Bale. You will face a Hel-Traveler and several Brood.
  5. 5
Midgard (Well of Urd): Start at the Lake of Nine Mystic Gateway and head north-northwest. Follow the path upwards, and you will encounter the Hel Tear on the way to the Well of Urd. This is generally an easier encounter with fewer, lower-level enemies like Raider Chiefs.
Tips
  • Hel Tears are large and easily visible.
  • When a Hel Tear appears, your companion will attempt to close it while a timer counts down.
  • Your primary objective is to protect your companion from enemies emerging from the tear.
  • Survive until the timer depletes to close the tear. Enemies will disappear once it's closed.
  • Each Hel Tear rewards a Frozen Spark. Closing all six grants a complete Frozen Flame.

Completing all six Hel Tears rewards you with a complete Frozen Flame, which is used to upgrade the Leviathan Axe.
