Follow this guide to complete the For Vanaheim! Favor in God of War Ragnarök. Learn how to reach The Crater, defeat The Crimson Dread, and more.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
After completing the main quest "Creatures of Prophecy," leave Freyr's Camp and find Helka. Follow her trail to a cliff edge and use your boat to reach The Crater area of Vanaheim.
  2. 2
Once in The Crater, follow the path until a cutscene triggers, automatically starting the "For Vanaheim!" Favor.
  3. 3
Head north and then west in The Plains. You'll encounter Tatzelwurms and a spirit that starts the "Casualty of War: The Brooch" Favor.
  4. 4
Drop down to a lower area, hop over a gap, and grapple over another to reach the western side of The Plains.
  5. 5
Venture north and find a wooden fence blocking your path.
  6. 6
Locate a Celestial Altar to change the time of day to night. You'll need to drop down a nearby ledge, grapple across a gap, and cross another gap to reach the altar, which is near a Blacksmith Shop.
  7. 7
After changing the time to night, the wooden barrier will be gone. Defeat the Ogre and Seidr enemies that appear.
  8. 8
Open the gate, follow the trail to a small cave, and squeeze through the wall.
  9. 9
(Optional) Near the cave entrance, you can fight a miniboss, Vali the Oath Guard (a Traveler).
  10. 10
After squeezing through the passage, you'll enter a larger area to fight the dragon, The Crimson Dread.
Tips
  • The Favor automatically starts once you enter The Plains in The Crater.
  • Be prepared to dodge most of The Crimson Dread's attacks, as many are unblockable.
  • Look for hints from your companions during the dragon fight if you're unsure of what to do.
  • The wooden barriers can only be passed by changing the time of day to night at a Celestial Altar.
