Learn how to start and complete the Nocturnal Predator favor in God of War Ragnarök. This guide covers finding Wisps, fighting the Flame Phantom boss, and obtaining rewards.

You can begin the Nocturnal Predator favor as soon as you arrive in The Plains area of Vanaheim. However, this favor is only available at night. If it is daytime when you arrive, you must first visit a Celestial Altar to change the time to night. There are two altars in The Plains: one in the Eastern Plains and one in the Western Plains. Either will work. Once it is night, travel to the northern portion of the Eastern Plains. You will see some wildlife being attacked by Wisps. Use your Blades of Chaos (L2 + R2 attack) to defeat the Wisp and start the favor.

There are three instances of Wisps attacking wildlife in the Eastern Plains, all in the same general area. Since the favor takes place at night, the Wisps are easy to spot. Aim with your Blades of Chaos (L2) and use the R2 attack on each Wisp. This will trap the Wisp in a pillar. After dealing with all three Wisps, locate a plate on the ground with flames emanating from it. Approaching this plate will trigger a boss fight against a Flame Phantom.

The Flame Phantom is similar to the Frost Phantom from the main story, but its attacks are fire-based. It is recommended to maintain a ranged approach during this fight. Most of its attacks can be avoided by dodging backward or to the sides. Observe its attack patterns to time your dodges effectively. Pay attention to yellow and red ringed attacks, as they are the most dangerous.

You cannot directly damage the Flame Phantom. Instead, you must attack it to fill its stun meter. Once the stun meter is full, pillars in the environment will light up. Attack these pillars until they break to deplete a portion of the Flame Phantom's health. There are five pillars in total, and they are spread out, making this a slightly longer fight. You may be able to break two pillars at once if they are close together, but do not rush.

The best way to build the stun meter is by using ranged attacks with the Leviathan Axe or Draupnir Spear. Aim for the orb on the boss to properly build stun. If the orb glows, hitting it will cause the boss to fall to the ground, allowing for free hits and easier stun meter filling. Four of the five pillars are easily visible and accessible. The fifth pillar is located across the chasm on the northern end of the area, on the opposite shore. You will need to use ranged attacks to hit this pillar.

Upon defeating the Flame Phantom, the Nocturnal Predator favor will be completed.
