How to Return to Old Areas in Vanaheim: To To In

Learn how to return to Vanaheim areas like Eastern Barri Woods and The Abandoned Village in god of war ragnarok after The Reckoning.

You’ll first visit Vanaheim during the main quest The Reckoning, exploring areas like The Southern Wilds, Noatun’s Garden, Freyr’s Camp, the Eastern Barri Woods, The Abandoned Village, and the Western Barri Woods. While most collectibles in these areas can be acquired on your first visit, the Eastern Barri Woods has none available. After The Reckoning, you will be locked out of most of these areas, with only The Southern Wilds and Freyr’s Camp accessible (The Southern Wilds only via Mystic Gateways). No collectibles in god of war ragnarok are missable, but anything not collected during The Reckoning will be unavailable until you return during the main quest Creatures of Prophecy. Full freedom to explore these areas is granted after Creatures of Prophecy and the favor Scent of Survival.

Areas and Unobtainable Collectibles During The Reckoning:

• The Southern Wilds: Hel Tears
• Freyr’s Camp: Legendary Chests x2, Remnants of Asgard
• Eastern Barri Woods: All
• The Abandoned Village: Odin’s Raven
• Western Barri Woods: Scent of Survival (favor)

After finishing The Reckoning, you can explore new western areas of Vanaheim freely, including Freyr’s Camp, Pilgrim’s Landing, the River Delta, Noatun’s Garden, the Cliffside Ruins, The Veiled Passage, the Goddess Falls, and the Vanir Shrine. All collectibles in these areas are obtainable except for the Berserker Gravestone at Pilgrim’s Landing. Access is restricted during Creatures of Prophecy, but free exploration is possible after completing it and the favor Scent of Survival. You can also revisit these areas at breaks during the main questline.

How to Return to Old Areas in Vanaheim:

The Southern Wilds: You can return to The Southern Wilds after The Reckoning but before Creatures of Prophecy using a Mystic Gateway. A barrier prevents travel between The Southern Wilds and Freyr’s Camp directly.

Freyr’s Camp: Freyr’s Camp is accessible at almost any point after your first visit during The Reckoning.

The Eastern Barri Woods: Your initial visit during The Reckoning bypasses collectibles. After completing Forging Destiny, you’ll have the Draupnir Spear, but barriers will still block paths. You will return during Creatures of Prophecy, where the Draupnir Spear is needed to destroy a boulder and open a new path to the collectibles. After completing Creatures of Prophecy and Scent of Survival, you can return freely through the gates at Freyr’s Camp.

The Abandoned Village: You visit this area during The Reckoning and can collect most items, but not Odin’s Raven. Return is blocked until the main quest Creatures of Prophecy. During Creatures of Prophecy, you re-enter via an alternate route through the Eastern Barri Woods: from Freyr’s Camp, exit through the gate, cross a bridge, then use the Draupnir Spear to open a path. Follow this linear path to the ruins.
