Gaining a Level
Think of experience points (XP) as a measure of how much your character has learned and grown through their adventures. In Neverwinter, XP is your reward for overcoming obstacles and, of course, defeating monsters. You'll get XP right after you take down a monster. The amount you earn is based on your character's current level and how tough that particular monster was. Don't worry about who lands the killing blow – everyone in your party gets XP when any member defeats a monster. Sometimes, after a particularly long or challenging adventure, your character will also be awarded 'Quest Experience.' This is also shared with everyone in your party. Once your character has accumulated enough XP, they'll gain a whole new level!
When your character levels up, they'll get some sweet bonuses to their base attack, base saves, and skills. These bonuses are determined by the class you've chosen and how you've developed it.
