The Game Options menu in Neverwinter allows you to tweak the game difficulty and change other gameplay settings. It is recommended that most players use the default settings, as the game is balanced around them. Experienced players familiar with Dungeons & Dragons might consider selecting the "Hardcore D&D" option, which incorporates more complex aspects of the rules system.

Hit Points Calculation:

At Normal difficulty or easier, hit points (HP) are granted as follows: Characters gain maximum HP from levels 1-3. For levels 4 and above, they roll for HP but will only accept a minimum roll of 1/2 of their possible HP, rounded up. For example, a Wizard who normally rolls a d4 for HP will receive at least 3 HP every level.
