Discover Vermilion City in Pokemon Let's Go! Get a free Squirtle, trade for an Alolan Geodude, find hidden items, and grab a special rideable Pokemon. Your guide to the Electric Gym awaits!

Alright, welcome to Vermilion City! This place is a pretty cool port city, and the main draw right now is that the fancy S.S. Anne cruise ship is docked here. Plus, it's home to the Electric-type Gym, so get ready for a shocking challenge!

Before we dive into anything else, let's talk about a couple of neat little bonuses you can grab right away. As soon as you enter the city from Route 6, you'll see a policewoman and a Squirtle. If you've managed to catch at least 60 different Pokémon, you can actually adopt this Squirtle for yourself! Pretty neat, right?

After that, make your way to the Pokémon Center. It's always a good idea to heal up your team, even if they're feeling fine. Plus, sometimes the visitors inside have some interesting tidbits of info or quests for you.

Inside the Pokémon Center, you might notice a Hiker chilling on the left. He's looking to trade his special Alolan Geodude for a regular Geodude. This Alolan version is Rock and Electric-type, which is pretty unique! It could be a solid addition to your team if you're looking for a tanky Electric-type. Just remember that to evolve it all the way to Golem, you'll need to trade it with a friend. Also, since the next Gym is Electric-type, you might want to hold onto your regular Geodude for now, as it's a Ground-type and will resist Electric attacks.

Step outside the Pokémon Center and head towards the undeveloped land to the east. It looks like it's been this way for ages! But don't give up hope just yet. In the top-right corner of this area, search to the left of some crates, and you'll find a hidden Full Heal. It might not fix the city's development issues, but it'll definitely help your Pokémon!

Now, let's head south through the city. On the right side, you'll find the Poké Mart, so stock up on any supplies you might need. Further west from there is the Pokémon Fan Club. But before you go in, check out the lady sitting on the bench between two houses. If you show her 5 Growlithe (in Let's Go Pikachu) or 5 Meowth (in Let's Go Eevee), you'll get a really cool reward!

Here's the cool part: if you're playing Let's Go Pikachu, you'll get a special Persian. If you're playing Let's Go Eevee, you'll get an Arcanine. The best part? You can actually ride these Pokémon outside of their Poké Balls! It makes traveling around a bit faster and looks pretty awesome. Both are pretty decent Pokémon for this stage of the game too. Persian is speedy, while Arcanine has good all-around stats, though it can only learn moves via TMs since it evolves with a Fire Stone.

Once you head inside the Fan Club, talk to the president at the top. He'll ramble a bit about his favorite Pokémon, and in return, you'll get a Partner Costume Set. Now you can dress up your partner Pokémon to match your style!

With all that done, you'll notice the Gym is south of here, but the entrance is blocked by a skinny tree. To get past that, you'll need to head east from the Poké Mart. The path will split. Going south will lead you to the S.S. Anne, which you'll need to visit to progress and get into the Gym. However, you'll need the S.S. Ticket from Bill on Route 25 first. For now, we recommend heading east towards Route 11. There are more Pokémon and trainers to battle there, so it's a good place to level up before tackling the Gym!
