Alright, let's talk about catching Pokémon in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! Gone are the days of random encounters in tall grass; now you can actually see the Pokémon wandering around. Some are more common than others, and they'll pop in and out of existence, so keep an eye out!

When you touch a wild Pokémon, or it touches you, you'll jump straight into catching mode. Here's how to get ready:

  • Get Ready: This is your go-to to start throwing Poké Balls. If you miss or the Pokémon breaks free, you'll need to select this again.
  • Bag: Open this up to use items. You can grab a better Poké Ball or use a berry to make the Pokémon easier to catch. Remember, you can only use one berry at a time, and its effect vanishes if the Pokémon escapes, but not if your throw just misses.
  • Run Away: If you're not feeling the encounter, you can bail out here. The Pokémon will disappear, unless you're in a GO Park.

Once you're ready to throw, stay calm! If you're using the Joy-Con or Poké Ball Plus, you can mimic a throwing motion – overarm or underarm, whatever feels natural. If you're playing in Handheld mode, just tilt your Switch to aim and press the [A] button to throw.
