Walkthrough
- 1After your mother's phone call, you gain control of your character. Walk to her and speak with her.
- 2Leave your house and move up the street to your left, ignoring the building on your left.
- 3You will be stopped by your rival and his sister. After they leave, your rival will follow you.
- 4Explore Aspertia City. You cannot visit the Pokémon Center, Trainers' School, or leave town yet.
- 5Head up the steps to the lookout, located on the street leading north to the right of the Pokémon Center.
- 6At the lookout, speak with Hugh, then move over to Bianca.
- 7Talk to Bianca and answer "yes" to both questions to receive your starter Pokémon (Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott). All starters are Level 5 with no held items.
- 8Snivy (Grass-type) is recommended for expert players due to weaknesses against four gyms, but excels with high Speed and balanced stats when not at a disadvantage. Evolves at Lv.17 to Servine and Lv.36 to Serperior.
- 9Tepig (Fire-type) is suitable for most players, gaining Fighting-type upon evolution. It boasts high Attack and HP, but lacks defence and Speed. Evolves at Lv.17 to Pignite and Lv.36 to Emboar.
- 10Oshawott (Water-type) is recommended for beginners. It is only weak to one gym and has well-balanced stats with good offense but slightly lacklustre Speed. Evolves at Lv.17 to Dewott and Lv.36 to Samurott.
- 11After choosing your starter, you can nickname it. Bianca will then give you a Pokedex.
- 12Exit the lookout. Your rival will ask Bianca for his own Pokedex and starter Pokémon.
- 13As you descend the steps, your rival will challenge you to your first Pokémon battle. Use the move Tackle until your opponent is defeated.
- 14Winning the battle will bring your Pokémon to Level 6 or almost Level 7.
- 15After the battle, Bianca will take you to the Pokémon Center for healing and a tour of its facilities.
- 16Bianca will then give you ten Poke Balls.
