Begin your adventure in Aspertia City, choose your starter Pokémon (Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott), and prepare for your first rival battle in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Start the game and talk to your mother in your house.
  2. 2
Exit your house and walk up the street to the left. You will be stopped by your rival and his sister.
  3. 3
After your rival's sister leaves, continue exploring Aspertia City. Your rival will prevent you from visiting key locations or leaving town.
  4. 4
Head up the steps to the lookout, located north of the Pokémon Center.
  5. 5
At the lookout, talk to Hugh, then approach Bianca.
  6. 6
Talk to Bianca and answer "yes" to her questions to receive your starter Pokémon. You can choose from Snivy (Grass-type), Tepig (Fire-type), or Oshawott (Water-type).
  7. 7
After choosing your starter, you can nickname it. Bianca will then give you a Pokédex.
  8. 8
Exit the lookout. Your rival will ask for his own starter and Pokédex.
  9. 9
As you descend the steps, your rival will challenge you to your first Pokémon battle. Use the move Tackle until your opponent is defeated.
  10. 10
After the battle, Bianca will take you to the Pokémon Center for a tour and to heal your Pokémon.
  11. 11
Bianca will then give you ten Poké Balls.

Starter Pokémon Details:

  • Snivy (Grass-type): Evolves into Servine (Lv.17) and Serperior (Lv.36). Recommended for expert players due to weaknesses against four gyms. Excels with high Speed and balanced stats, especially defense, when not facing weaknesses.
  • Tepig (Fire-type): Evolves into Pignite (Lv.17) and Emboar (Lv.36). Well-suited for most players. Gains Fighting-type upon evolution. Boasts high Attack and impressive HP/Special Attack, but lacks defense and speed.
  • Oshawott (Water-type): Evolves into Dewott (Lv.17) and Samurott (Lv.36). Recommended for beginners. Less versatile than Tepig due to not gaining a new type upon evolution, but only weak to one gym. Has well-balanced stats with good offense but slightly lacking speed.
Tips
  • In your first battle against your rival, using the move Tackle is the most effective strategy.
  • If you lose your first battle, don't worry, as you can gain more experience later.
  • The Pokédex records information on all Pokémon you encounter.
  • Bianca will explain the functions of the Pokémon Center, including healing Pokémon, the PC, and the Poké Mart.
