Follow this guide to conquer Route 5, defeat the Musician and Motorcyclist trainers, and discover the secrets of the Driftveil Drawbridge in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Alright, let's head west onto Route 5. Keep an eye out along the north side of the road, just past the trailer. You'll spot a musician chilling with his lute. He wasn't up for a battle before, but now he's ready! Go chat him up.

Walkthrough
  1. 1

Where: Route 5, along the north edge of the road west of the trailer.

What you see: A musician with a lute.

What to do: Talk to the musician. He'll challenge you to a battle.

Why this way: This is your chance to battle him now that he's willing!

Trainer Battle: Musician

Pokemon Level Type
Maractus 25 Grass

After you beat him, he'll give you an Electric Guitar. This is a prop you can use in Pokémon Musicals, so snag it!

  1. Where: Continue west on Route 5, towards a crowd gathered around a Motorcyclist.

What you see: A crowd and a Motorcyclist. He'll offer you a battle if you talk to him.

What to do: Talk to the Motorcyclist and answer 'Yes' when he asks if you want to battle.

Why this way: This is your first Triple Battle if you're playing White 2, or your first Rotation Battle if you're playing Black 2. Don't underestimate it!

Triple/Rotation Battle: Motorcyclist

Pokemon Level Type
Sigilyph 26 Psychic/Flying
Arhen 26 Rock/Flying
Tirtouga 26 Water/Rock

Once you defeat Charles (that's the Motorcyclist's name!), he'll ride off. The crowd will cheer, and then disperse. Head left and go up the steps to reach the Driftveil Drawbridge.

Driftveil Drawbridge

You're now on the Driftveil Drawbridge. There are a few things to check out here: three people to talk to (a man, a woman, and a Youngster), a Pokémon to catch, and some items to find.

Airborne Shadows
Ducklett

As you walk across the bridge, you'll notice small, swaying shadows. Stepping on these can lead to two outcomes:

  • Wing Items: You might find a random wing item, like a Clever Wing, Genius Wing, Health Wing, Muscle Wing, Resist Wing, Swift Wing, or Pretty Wing. These get added straight to your bag.
  • Wild Pokémon: The shadow could also be a wild Ducklett. If you want, you can battle and catch it here.

What about those wings? All of them, except the Pretty Wing (which is best sold for cash), are used to increase your Pokémon's EVs (Effort Values). EVs boost your Pokémon's stats as they level up. If you're familiar with EVs, use them as you see fit! If not, don't worry too much about them right now.

Once you've explored the bridge, continue to the end and head down the steps into Driftveil City. You've made it!
