PWT: Initial

Welcome to the Pokémon World Tournament (PWT) in Unova! This guide will walk you through the initial tournaments you can access. If this is your very first time here, make sure to check out the dedicated Driftveil Tournament page in our 'To Gym 6' section for a full rundown. Once you've conquered the Driftveil Tournament for the first time, it'll become available again, but with a new twist!

The updated Driftveil Tournament automatically sets all Pokémon entering to Level 25, regardless of their original level. This means you can't just rely on raw power; you'll need to use strategy to win. You can choose to compete in a Single, Double, Triple, or Rotation Battle format.

Rental Tournament

In the Rental Tournament, you'll pick a party style: Attack, Defense, or Balanced. Based on your choice, you'll receive a random team of rental Pokémon. The opposing trainers will also use random rental Pokémon. While it feels random, there's a limited pool of rental Pokémon that all trainers draw from, so it's not entirely unpredictable. All Pokémon in this tournament are set to Level 50. Like the Driftveil Tournament, you can select between Single, Double, Triple, or Rotation Battle styles. Since you get a different party each time, these tournaments offer great replayability.

Mix Tournament

The Mix Tournament lets you use your own Pokémon. The unique twist here is that right before the battle, you'll see both your and your opponent's parties and their order. Then, you get to choose one Pokémon from your opponent's party to use in your team for that battle. Your opponent gets to do the same, picking one of your Pokémon. After the battle, all Pokémon are returned to their original trainers. All Pokémon in the Mix Tournament are also set to Level 50, regardless of their original level. You can choose to battle in Single, Double, Triple, or Rotation formats.

Download Tournament

The Download Tournament is a bit different; it's more of a sub-menu for special downloadable tournaments. Each downloaded tournament comes with its own unique rules and themes. You can download these via Wi-Fi using the green PC next to the woman in green when your system is connected to the internet. You'll find a variety of cool tournaments to download and try out!
