Find all Super Mario Land Mystery Box locations and learn how to get Star Coins from Normal and Golden Boxes.

Mystery Boxes can be revisited daily, with randomized contents. Golden Boxes are a rarer variant containing two Star Coins and potentially 1-Ups, with no enemies to defeat. There are 20 unique Normal Mystery Boxes yielding one Star Coin each, and 15 unique Golden Mystery Boxes yielding two Star Coins each, totaling 50 Star Coins. StreetPass functionality allows for resetting Mystery Boxes, enabling theoretically infinite Star Coins up to a cap of 999.

Mystery Boxes are found in Worlds 1, 2, 4, and 6, as well as Special Worlds 1, 3, 5, and 7. Each box has a limited selection of possible contents.

Normal Mystery Box List:

• Found In: World 1, World 6
• Description: Grab the Fire Flower and shoot the two fake Goombas with fireballs. A Star Coin will appear along with a large number of coins. Grab the Star Coin first.
• Found In: World 1, Special World 1
• Description: Defeat the Goomba directly in front of you, then grab the Star Coin that appears. Grab the Tanooki Leaf in the north-east corner and the scattered coins.
• Found In: World 1, Special World 1
• Description: Stomp the three Goombas to your north. The Star Coin will appear. Grab it and the dropped coins.
• Found In: World 1, Special World 1
• Description: Defeat the three Piranha Plants to your north. The Star Coin will appear. Grab it and the scattered coins.
• Found In: World 1, Special World 3
• Description: Defeat the Biddybud circling the Fire Flower, grab the Star Coin that appears, collect the Fire Flower, and then grab the scattered coins.
• Found In: World 2
• Description: Defeat the two Venus Fire Traps to either side of the Fire Flower. The Star Coin will appear. Collect it, followed by the Fire Flower and scattered coins.
• Found In: World 2, Special World 3
• Description: Defeat all five Biddybuds moving in a small circle. Grab the Star Coin followed by the scattered coins.
• Found In: World 2, Special World 3
• Description: Stomp the two stacked Goombas to your north, as well as the Venus Fire Trap to their right. A Star Coin will appear. Collect the Star Coin, Fire Flower north of it, and the scattered coins.
