Abyss Artifact Guide: How to Farm Skill Points and Unlock Abilities

Abyss Artifacts are the primary method for character progression in Crimson Desert, serving as skill points for unlocking abilities and enhancing stats like Health, Stamina, and Spirit. These are finite collectibles found through exploration, combat, and puzzles.

Artifacts are found across Pywel via exploration in dungeons, ruins, and caves in Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, Delesyia, and the Crimson Desert. The Abyss itself is a dense source, particularly the Library of Providence. Major boss fights guarantee at least one Artifact drop, with world bosses and multi-phase encounters dropping two or three. Filling the combat meter in the UI by using varied attack combos on enemy groups also drops bonus Artifacts.

Observation Learning allows you to permanently unlock techniques by observing unique enemy or NPC animations. Spending an Artifact on the prompt bypasses normal skill tree progression. Key targets for Observation Learning include Matthias for Kick, Muskan for grapple techniques, bosses for their attacks, and advanced NPCs for unarmed and weapon skills.

For efficient spending, prioritize mobility skills like Double Jump (Green tree) early on, as this opens access to more Artifacts. The Grapple chain (Blue tree) including Grapple, Lariat, and Body Slam is also highly effective for controlling human enemies. After securing mobility and grapple skills, focus on Parry and Counter (Green tree) for boss damage, then invest in elemental abilities matching your playstyle.

Stat upgrades are crucial and should be interleaved with ability unlocks. Stamina Level 16 reduces the cost and increases the duration of Blue tree abilities. Spirit Level 14 extends the active time of Green tree abilities. Health Level 18 improves survivability against high-damage late-game bosses.

The Abyss is the best farming destination, accessed via mystical gates. It features higher Artifact density, with the Library of Providence offering dedicated puzzle rooms. The White Crow encounter rewards the Crow Wings gliding ability and Artifacts. Abyss Guardians also drop Artifacts upon defeat. A dedicated Abyss farming run can yield enough Artifacts for three to five skill unlocks.

Certain Abyss Artifact combinations create hidden resonance effects with powerful bonuses. For example, equipping the Shard of Echoes with the Hollow Crown grants the Resonance of Sovereignty effect, increasing damage against bosses. Experimenting with these combinations is a rewarding endgame activity.

Collecting Abyss Artifacts contributes to the lore of the War of the Three Crowns, unlocking a special archive in Greymane Camp. Collecting all artifacts also grants the Abyss Walker achievement and access to the final Sealed Abyss challenge, featuring the game's most difficult boss.

Finding all Artifacts requires thorough exploration of all regions, completion of side quests, and defeating optional bosses. Some are hidden behind environmental puzzles that require later-game traversal abilities, necessitating revisits to earlier areas.
